WHAT YOU GET TO DO

As a Shift Engineering Manager, you will be part of a team that works to maximize equipment utilization and efficiency where you will be expected to provide industrial Electrical/Mechanical expertise and leadership/oversight. The role will assist in the development and implementation of processes to maintain proper utilization and functionality. This position will focus on the application of knowledge of; electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment, including the utilization of 480vac, 240vac, 120vac, and 48vdc, 24vdc, VFDs, and PLCs (Siemens preferred.) The successful candidate will be a member of the Maintenance Leadership Team for the site and will routinely interface with the customer’s Operations Team,
  • Lead your team by providing first-class maintenance and system support to our customers.
  • Manage operations and maintenance of automated storage and retrieval systems and picking systems installed at the customer’s location(s).
  • The Shift Engineering Manager will be eager and determined to succeed, and safety-conscious in all activities undertaken.
  • Will own problems and see them through to successful completion.
  • May also be required to respond to emergency calls. Weekend work will be required and shall be structured to provide forward planning.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead your team to rectify software and electro-mechanical faults, resolve PLC related issues, provide guidance and expertise, be the resident subject matter expert on shift, and provide aid to customer’s sites in assigned area
  • Respond to emergency calls at customer site(s).
  • Safety conscious in all activities and will drive culture of safety and awareness.
  • Track and record all problems and see them through to a successful resolution
  • In conjunction with the customer’s On-Site Operations Team, provide a first-class response to customer, ensuring a ‘do-it-right-the-first-time” mentality and policy
  • Provide emergency breakdown and specialized maintenance support
  • Set up and calibrate precision automated equipment
  • Develop and maintain strong, effective working relationships with our customer and their operational agents to enable KNAPP to provide first-class service.
  • Achieve and maintain performance metrics in line with contractual expectations (output, response time, quality-of-repair, and standards of workmanship).
  • Training of customer’s maintenance and operations teams, as required
  • Expertise in the installation of conveyors and precision automated equipment
  • Maintain a high quality of service by ensuring detailed communications with customer(s)
  • Produce and deliver well-written and legible reports in a timely manner
  • Execute all quality procedures, safety procedures, and any statutory procedures at the site
  • Attend and participate in meetings with the KNAPP and Customer Leadership, to discuss ongoing activities and provide progress as applicable. Alternately, provide required information to the Resident Business Manager.
  • Provide specialized maintenance service support for the customer’s installed system
  • Using established tools, systems and procedures, ensure that all parts usage is logged accurately on a daily basis
  • Provide proper care and maintenance of the tools and equipment supplied
  • Provide flexibility and the best use-of-skills and capabilities to perform the functions of the role
  • Ensure that all time sheets and documents are accurate and legible, with all necessary reference information. To be presented on biweekly basis, for approval
  • Provide; mechanical strip-down and reassembly, basic field wiring, machine calibration, and system testing, as needed
  • Complete reactive repairs diligently within a timely manner
  • Interact with On-Site Management, keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progress while addressing their concerns in a professional manner
  • Provide hands-on ownership of issues to achieve a timely resolution
  • Interpret and work with electrical and pneumatic circuit diagrams
  • Utilize appropriate health & safety considerations and be able to perform risk assessments for maintenance tasks
  • Demonstrate proficient mechanical aptitude including, but not limited to, reading assembly drawings
  • Follow set-up instructions, assembly drawings, and check lists
  • Attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills
  • Provide excellent communication and customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Requires functional computer literacy with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office experience
  • Eager to learn and adaptive to changing role requirements

  • Shall performs other duties, as required

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts on weekdays and weekends
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. required
  • Occasional travel required (must have a valid passport or the ability to obtain passport)

  • Physical requirements may include:
    • Sitting, squatting, walking, reaching out to arm’s length, reaching over-head, lifting between 50-100 pounds, reading and writing in English
