About the Team:

Our Supply Chain and Logistics team mission is to provide top notch service to our stores and purchasing teams- contributing to the goal to make Grocery Outlet the first choice for bargain minded customers while touching lives for the better. Our team oversees the successful movement of products from our vendors to our stores and is self-motivated, passionate, and dedicated.

About the Role:  

We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Engineer to join our Distribution Center operations team. This is a mid-level position for a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about operational excellence and data-driven decision-making. You will play a key role in optimizing facility layouts, connecting operational data to actionable reporting, and partnering with our engineering and operations teams to drive continuous improvement across our distribution network. This role reports to the Manager, SC Automation Engineer. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform exploratory data analysis using SQL and Python within our Databricks environment to surface operational insights across the distribution network
  • Design and optimize work areas, pick paths, and storage configurations using AutoCAD to translate data insights into real-world facility improvements and facility designs
  • Connect and model data sources in Power BI to develop and maintain dashboards for operations leadership
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics including labor utilization, throughput, cycle times, and error rates
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, facilities, and IT teams to identify and implement process improvements
  • Support time study and labor standards initiatives in partnership with the engineering team as needed

 

About The Pay:

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required
  • 3–5 years of experience in a distribution, fulfillment, or manufacturing environment
  • Basic experience in AutoCAD for facility and work area layout design
  • Strong command of SQL for data querying, aggregation, and reporting
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis (pandas, pyspark)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex data sets to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities
  • Experience applying data analysis to transportation and warehouse operations, including cost reduction and process optimization
  • Experience performing data validation and quality checks across large datasets to ensure reliability of reporting and analysis
  • Familiarity with Power BI for data modeling, report development, and dashboard creation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently
  • Exposure to time study methodologies and labor standards a plus, but not required
  • Experience with WMS platforms (High Jump, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, etc.)
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10-25%
