Job description

Meta designs, builds, leases, and operates the most innovative and efficient data centers in the world. Meta is seeking a Director of Strategic Projects to develop Meta's global data center portfolio in line with the company's strategic objectives to advance our efforts around AI.
Director of Strategic Projects Responsibilities:
  • Grow and lead the strategic development program including identification and commercial structuring of development partner opportunities to enable future data center capacity growth
  • Collaborate with key leaders across design, engineering, construction, network, and legal to develop the strategic plan needed to execute against the company's aggressive capacity targets
  • Guide team members on overall strategic approach to developing new capacity while mitigating risk and ensuring that sufficient contingency plans are in place
  • Accountable for data center developers to supply pipeline opportunities and deliver on capacity targets while minimizing cost and optimizing for flexibility and optionality
  • Represent Meta in meetings with executives from potential suppliers, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Recruit, onboard, and mentor staff and ensure robust learning and career development
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed (25%+)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of overall experience in industrial real estate, infrastructure and data center development space
  • Proven track record of delivering large scale multi-party deals resulting in data center capacity delivery
  • 8+ years experience managing global programs and organizations
  • Proven commercial leadership and negotiation experience on multi-variable, complex deals involving scalable land, energy, and infrastructure capacity
  • Proven track record of delivering large capital projects leveraging complex commercial structures
  • Strategic thinker with experience driving decision making in ambiguous environments with experience influencing senior level stakeholders
  • Analytical problem-solving skills, experience being effective in a fast paced, hands-on work environment, and have a track record of success leading projects and developing complex solutions across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience delivering presentations and written communications to executive-level audiences
  • Proven track record of organizational leadership, including leading larger organizations and scaling teams during growth cycles
  • Knowledge of or experience assessing industry trends, market opportunities, and the competitive landscape

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of commercial real estate investment and development experience
  • Experience in the data center industry
  • International infrastructure development experience
  • Private equity and investment banking experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or relevant field. MBA or J.D. preferred
