Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
Assist the Physics Lab Technician with the weekly setup and takedown of equipment in intro physics labs and other projects as assigned.
Transferable Skills:
The ability to follow direction and work independently
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Set up labs
2. Take down labs
3. Assist with the organization of stockroom
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
1. Physics lab course experience and general mechanical ability preferred. 2. Familiarity with proper use and care of physics lab equipment
3. Ability to follow detailed instructions for arranging often intricate lab set-ups
Physical and Environmental Factors:
This position requires crouching, kneeling/crawling, stooping, twisting/pivoting, climbing/balancing, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs., operating hand tools, and operating equipment or machinery to perform the essential functions. It also requires rare exposure to loud noise, respiratory factors, chemicals, vibrations, wet or humid conditions indoors, extreme cold, extreme heat, proximity hazards, and heights or cramped quarters to perform the essential functions. Protective equipment is required to perform some essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
