What is a Physics AI Simulation?

A Physics AI Simulation job involves creating, developing, and maintaining computer simulations that model physical systems using artificial intelligence techniques. Professionals in this field use their expertise in physics, mathematics, and programming to design simulations for research, engineering, gaming, or educational purposes. They often work with machine learning algorithms to improve the accuracy and efficiency of these simulations, enabling better predictions and deeper insights into complex phenomena. This role typically requires strong analytical skills and experience with simulation software and programming languages.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Physics AI Simulation specialist?

To thrive as a Physics AI Simulation Specialist, you need a solid background in physics, mathematics, and computer science, often supported by a relevant degree or advanced studies. Familiarity with simulation software such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Unity, and programming languages like Python or C++, is typically required, along with experience in machine learning frameworks. Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and effective collaboration skills help distinguish top performers in this field. These competencies ensure accurate modeling, innovative solutions, and effective teamwork in developing realistic and efficient AI-driven simulations.

How do professionals in Physics AI Simulation typically collaborate with other teams to develop accurate models?

In Physics AI Simulation roles, collaboration is integral to creating reliable simulation models. Professionals often work closely with domain experts, such as physicists and engineers, to validate the scientific accuracy of their AI-driven simulations. They also partner with software developers to integrate simulation tools into broader platforms and may engage with data scientists to refine algorithms using experimental or real-world data. Regular interdisciplinary meetings and code reviews are common practices to ensure alignment and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

What is the difference between Physics Ai Simulation vs Data Scientist?

AspectPhysics Ai SimulationData Scientist
Required CredentialsPhysics or Computer Science degree, knowledge of AI and simulation toolsStatistics, Mathematics, Computer Science degree, programming skills
Work EnvironmentResearch labs, tech companies, simulation software developmentBusiness, tech firms, data analysis teams
Industry UsagePhysics research, AI-driven simulations, scientific modelingData analysis, predictive modeling, business insights

Physics Ai Simulation focuses on creating AI-driven models to simulate physical phenomena, often requiring physics and AI expertise. Data Scientists analyze data to extract insights, build predictive models, and support decision-making. While both roles involve data and AI, Physics Ai Simulation emphasizes physical modeling and simulation, whereas Data Scientists focus on data analysis and interpretation.

Job description

Introducing Moonlake, AI for creating world simulations.
About Moonlake
Moonlake is building the frontier of interactive world models: systems that generate, simulate, and reason over 3D environments for embodied AI, robotics and gaming. We develop the simulation infrastructure to build worlds (e.g., assets, scenes, digital twins) at scale.
Our team sits at the intersection of:
  • Embodied AI
  • Robotics simulation
  • Interactive 3D worlds
  • World models
  • Real-time generation
  • AI infrastructure

Moonlake is building the next generation of AI infrastructure for interactive digital worlds. Our mission is to enable anyone to create, simulate, and interact with rich environments using natural language and multimodal inputs, turning simple ideas into worlds with structure, logic, and agents that can perceive and act.
Our team has raised $28M in seed funding from NVIDIA Ventures, Threshold Ventures, AIX ventures and notable angels including Naval Ravikant and Jeff Dean to build the foundational layer for the future of AI - powering everything from creative tools and games to robotics training, simulations, and digital twins. Our goal is to make building and experimenting with these environments as accessible and scalable as publishing video on the internet.
We are looking for exceptional research engineers and applied researchers to help push the frontier of interactive AI.
THE ROLE
We're looking for a Product Engineer who combines strong full-stack engineering with sharp product judgment and a bias for shipping.
We want someone who can:
- Own a product surface end-to-end - not a ticket queue
- Turn a rough idea into a shipped, measured feature
- Build full-stack, front to back (React / Next.js / TypeScript + Python)
- Make product decisions without waiting for a PM
- Ship fast and iterate on real usage
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Scope fuzzy product goals into testable, instrumented features, and measure their impact
- Break down ambiguous work, sequence it, and drive it to production
- Collaborate closely with research, engineering, and founders building world models and embodied AI systems
- Use AI-native engineering tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) to ship faster
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A track record of shipping real product in ambiguous, fast-moving environments - you turn ambiguity into outcomes
- ~3+ years building and shipping production web products (we index on track record over years)
- Strong full-stack engineer, excellent React/Next.js/TypeScript; with solid backend engineering judgment: you design sound database schemas and system architecture and understand the tradeoffs
- Strong technical communication - you turn ambiguity into clear plans, explain tradeoffs to non-engineers, communicate with high signal, and drive alignment proactively
- Sound product and UX judgment - you decide what's worth building
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE WE VALUE
- React / Next.js / TypeScript, Tailwind / shadcn, and modern web application architecture
- Building product features and UI/UX for agentic systems - where AI takes actions, reasons over state, and drives multi-step, long-horizon workflows with streaming UIs, generative UI, etc.
- Building scalable backend services and APIs
- AI-native product workflows
BONUS POINTS (any one is a plus, none required)
- Extensive experience building and shipping agent / LLM-powered product features
- Founding / 0→1 engineer, or entrepreneurial experience
- Physics AI / simulation and robotics stack - Isaac Sim, MuJoCo
- 3D asset workflows (Blender) or other world-building / assets-building tools
Why This Role Matters
Moonlake is building tools that sit between:
  • AI systems and human creativity
  • Simulation and interaction
  • Research infrastructure and product experience

The interface layer is critical. These products must make highly complex systems feel intuitive, responsive, and powerful.
You'll help define how people interact with the next generation of world-building and embodied AI tools.
We are committed to being an on-site, in-person team currently based in San Francisco.
