Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic primary and urgent care team. As an PA, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive and high-quality healthcare services to patients across a wide spectrum of ages and medical needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with the medical director, and make a meaningful impact on the well-being of patients and the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations, to formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Provide evidence-based primary care services, including but not limited to preventive care, chronic disease management, and health promotion initiatives.
  • Assess and manage acute medical conditions and minor injuries in the urgent care setting, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions to address patient needs.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests, imaging studies, and electrocardiograms, to aid in diagnosis and treatment decision-making.
  • Prescribe medications, therapies, and other treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines, patient preferences, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform minor procedures and interventions, such as wound care, incision and drainage of abscess, suturing, splinting, and injections, as indicated by clinical presentations.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff to optimize patient care delivery and achieve clinical outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, preventive measures, and self-management strategies to empower them in their healthcare journey.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR), documenting patient encounters, treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up recommendations in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities to enhance professional growth, clinical knowledge, and practice excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in nursing or other medical fields.
  • Ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) or Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of practice.
  • Board certification or eligibility in the respective advanced practice specialty area (e.g., Family Practice, Adult-Gerontology, Emergency Medicine).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in primary care, urgent care, or a related healthcare setting, with proficiency in managing diverse patient populations and medical conditions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conducting comprehensive physical assessments, diagnosing medical conditions, and formulating evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other clinical software applications for documentation, order entry, and information retrieval.
  • Commitment to maintaining clinical competence through ongoing education, professional development activities, and adherence to best practices in healthcare delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a collaborative care model with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and a second language commonly spoken in the local community (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and precept students, residents, and junior healthcare providers.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations, committees, or community outreach initiatives related to primary care and urgent care practice.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure coverage in the primary care and urgent care settings.
