Job description

Overview

SUMMER 2027

Shure offers a challenging, fun, and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.

As a Shure Packaging Engineering Intern, you will assist with the development and execution of sustainable packaging solutions for Shure's legendary audio product portfolio. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and manufacturing, to ensure that our packaging design meets customer requirements, regulatory compliance, and sustainability targets.ย ย 

This internship will be Hybrid, based in Niles, IL.ย 

Responsibilities
  • Work to catalog and update existing packaging parts and documentation.ย 
  • Identify opportunities for consolidation of existing parts.ย 
  • Work directly with packaging suppliers to validate existing documentation and parts.ย 
  • Intern may create fully defined 3D models and associated 2D documentation using CAD software (Siemens NX and ArtiosCAD).ย 
  • Endeavor to reduce the environmental impact of Shure Packaging.ย  Monitor and report on sustainable packaging performance metrics such as cost, carbon footprint, and waste reduction.ย 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging sustainable packaging technologies.ย 
  • Support ongoing production/manufacturing via the engineering change process, as needed.ย 
  • Support Senior and Staff Packaging Engineers as needed. ย 
Qualifications
  • In-process of a Bachelor's in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science.ย ย 
  • Previous packaging internship experience a plus.ย 
  • Knowledge of packaging materials and structures, manufacturing processes, and supply chain logistics.ย 
  • Possess an eagerness for continued design skills growth, and a passion to apply them to develop packaging for world-class audio products.ย 
  • Familiarity with packaging specific software such as ArtiosCAD and Cape Pack Palletizing Software a plus.ย ย 
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and cross functional team environment (including global team members), soliciting guidance and input from team members when needed to complete assignments.ย 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.ย 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.ย
