Description
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) seeks candidates to join our highly collegial group to serve as Division Chief of Pediatric Nephrology.
The Division comprises six faculty, a nurse practitioner, two registered nurses, a registered dietician, a social worker, a child psychologist, two research study coordinators, and a talented administrative support staff. The Division fully complements nephrology services, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, CARPEDIEM, and kidney transplantation. Our ACGME-accredited fellowship program has been training pediatric nephrologists since 1994. Golisano Children's Hospital is a 148-bed facility with a 13-bed PICU, 16-bed Cardiac ICU, and 68-bed NICU. The Department offers broad research opportunities, the University has a supportive Clinical & Translational Science Institute, and the Division participates in several nephrology study groups, including CKiD, PNRC, SHIP AHOY, NAPRTCS, and SCOPE. The Division Chief will oversee the clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division, lead recruiting efforts, and ensure career mentoring for Division faculty and fellows.
On the southern shore of Lake Ontario, Rochester, New York, is just north of the breathtaking Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York. The region is a progressive metropolitan community of 1.1 million people with affordable housing, easy commutes, and highly ranked public schools, major colleges, and universities. The area offers excellent four-season recreational activities, including golf, hiking, biking, camping, water sports, and downhill and cross-country skiing. The Finger Lakes Wine region produces award-winning wines within easy driving distance. Rochester is a 6-hour drive to New York City, 3.5 hours to Toronto, 90 minutes to Niagara Falls, and 40 minutes to Letchworth State Park - the Grand Canyon of the East.
Qualifications
Pediatric Nephrology fellowship training, board certification, and progressive leadership responsibility in pediatric nephrology medicine are requirements. The preferred candidate will have an independent scholarly portfolio and a track record of success in research or quality improvement and mentoring trainees and junior faculty.
