The Appleton Area School District has the following Co-Curricular Advisor position available at Wilson/Magellan Middle School.


Description: Yearbook Advisor 
The Middle School Yearbook Advisor is responsible for overseeing the development, design, and publication of the school yearbook. This position provides students with opportunities to develop skills in writing, photography, graphic design, organization, collaboration, and leadership while creating a lasting record of the school year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit, organize, and supervise students participating in the yearbook club or yearbook class.
  • Teach and guide students in yearbook design, photography, interviewing, writing, editing, and publication processes.
  • Develop a production schedule to ensure deadlines are met throughout the school year.
  • Coordinate coverage of school events, activities, athletics, and student organizations.
  • Review and edit student-created content for accuracy, quality, and appropriateness.
  • Manage yearbook software, digital files, photographs, and layouts.
  • Communicate and collaborate with staff, students, families, and administrators to gather content and promote yearbook sales.
  • Serve as the primary contact with the yearbook publishing company.
  • Monitor and manage the yearbook budget, fundraising activities, and purchase orders as needed.
  • Organize yearbook distribution and assist with promotional activities.
  • Ensure all publications reflect district policies and standards.

Time Commitment

  • Regular meetings with yearbook students throughout the school year.
  • Additional time may be required before or after school and during special events to collect content and meet publication deadlines.
