The store is run by sisters and co-chief executives Shelley, Caryn, and Lori Hirshleifer, David Sills, chief creative officer, and the 5th generation, Marci Hirshleifer, Andrew Feinberg, and Rob Sills. Hirshleifers has evolved into a full-blown fashion hub where clients can connect with our unique, personal buys and discover the ultimate luxury shopping adventure.
HIRSHLEIFERS has been in operation for over 100 years, 50+ years in Americana Manhasset shopping center. Strategically situated in the heart of Americana with over 20,000 square feet of main floor selling space, and housing over 100 international designers.
Hirshleifers is looking for a detail-oriented, motivated Junior Photographer and Studio Assistant to join our in-house photography team. The ideal candidate will have up to 2 years of experience. This person will work under the direction and supervision of our lead photographer, photo studio supervisor, and art director.
Studio Assisting
The Junior Photographer and Studio Assistant will assist and work closely with our lead photographer on a daily basis, helping to keep studio running smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
• Assisting with studio setup, including lighting, light modifiers, and equipment breakdown
• Helping style and prep product on the mannequin, including disassembling when needed
• Supporting camera work and tethering during shoots
• Occasionally shooting product in-studio and, when needed, on the sales floor, under the direction of the lead photographer and art director
• Helping pull product from backstock or the floor as needed by other team members
Photography
The ideal candidate should be comfortable operating a camera and capturing clean, consistent product shots. Experience with studio lighting setups, tethering, and basic camera equipment (bodies, lenses, light modifiers) is a plus. There is room to grow into more hands-on photography responsibilities over time.
Retouching
The Junior Photographer and Studio Assistant will occasionally assist with photo editing in Adobe Photoshop. Familiarity with the following tools is helpful.

• Liquify
• Clone Stamp
• Spot Healing Brush
• Patch Tool
• Quick Mask
Our editing workflow is straightforward, and may include:
• In Camera Raw, adjusting exposure and straightening the item when necessary
• In Photoshop, using Liquify and warp to achieve a clean, symmetrical image
• In Photoshop, using the appropriate selection method (Select Subject, Quick Select, Magic Wand, Pen tool) to separate item from background
• In Photoshop, compositing pieces of garments blocked by the mannequin
• In Photoshop, moving the item to our template and cleaning up lint or dust
• Assigning completed photos to the appropriate item in our inventory tracking program
This is an on-site, non-remote position. Personal transportation is required.
Full-time, Mon-Fri 10am - 6pm
Hourly Pay: $20-22/hr depending on experience
