Job Description Summary

To fully develop the Group Market Segment both with the emphasis on Group production especially for higher rated, less price sensitive business within a specified geographic territory and vertical markets concentrating on the solicitation of new profitable business. To merchandise as skillfully as possible the guest rooms and function space to maximize revenue potential for the hotel and to ensure that the customer has the best possible meeting experience. To achieve monthly room night goals, develop and implement sales action plans, maintain positive interdepartmental communications and to complete special projects as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Principal duties and responsibilities
  • Operational/Functional:
    • Maintain aggressive weekly telephone, site inspection and sales call goals.
    • Follow up promptly on all leads.
    • Assist in the development, implementation and follow‑up of the Quarterly SMART Sales Action Plan.
    • Maintain all files with current trace dates, accurate histories and all relevant information regarding booking activity.
    • Is current and abides by all sales office procedures and systems.
    • Participate in daily business review meetings, weekly GRC reviews, bi‑weekly sales meetings, and other meetings as required by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
    • Promote a high quality company image by demonstrating professionalism to both clients and colleagues.
    • Recommend improvement of facilities and services as needed.
    • Able and willing to assist with room set‑ups as needed.
  • Strategy and Planning:
    • Solicit accounts within assigned market segment utilizing Delphi, Knowland and other resources.
    • Prospect and develop new accounts in line with the hotel’s Mission Statement and Culture of Caring.
    • Active involvement in industry associations and trade shows.
    • Is knowledgeable of the subtleties inherent in the all market segments and of the role it plays in maintaining the profitability of the hotel.
    • Participates in development of all promotions related to multiple markets market segment needs.
    • Is current with all market related publications in order to stay on top of all industry trends and uncover any potential leads.
    • Utilize “Sell Sonesta” to refer business to other Sonesta Hotels.
    • Is fully aware of all corporate sponsored promotions.
  • Financial Management:
    • Achieve monthly room night and revenue booking goals.
    • Submit trip sales reports within 7 business days of return.
    • Participate in the ongoing forecasting process.Follow all P-Card and corporate finance policies and procedures
  • Leading with Passion:
    1. Responsible for ensuring success through the eyes of employees, guests, and owners.
    2. Utilize and collaborate with resources across different departments and corporate office.
    3. Capable of influencing employees to perform to their highest standard and establishing a trusting environment to enrich the culture.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in hotel Sales preferred.
  • Proficiency in Delphi preferred.
  • Track record of delivering exceptional guest and client experience.
  • Ability to utilize a computer, printer, telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine, file folders, filing cabinet, and facsimile machine.
  • Demonstrable expertise in analysis and action taking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Hotel and specific market knowledge preferred.
