At MKBC, we save lives every day by providing blood products to hospitals in PA and NJ. The Collections Specialist (Phlebotomist) position supports the Blood Center by collecting blood donations (blood and blood products) safely from volunteer donors in a compassionate and professional manner. The anticipated salary starts at $18.00 per hour and is commensurate with experience. In addition, Miller-Keystone offers the following to all full-time employees:

What you will be doing:

  • Utilize job experience and knowledge to provide exceptional donor experiences.
  • Ability to utilize all computer systems to process donors through their donor process (screening and whole blood phlebotomy, and automated collections when appropriate).
  • Take personal responsibility for donor safety, complying with all Blood Center standard procedures and other regulatory standards.
  • Set-up all supplies and equipment, completion of daily QC, and assure all equipment and supplies are available before the collection event.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Phlebotomy Certification is strongly preferred.
  • 6 months' experience in a Blood Center or other Healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
  • 1 years' experience in customer service is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse people and communicate (verbal, written, and listening) fluently in English
  • Proficient with basic computer skills and office tools, such as Microsoft Office, and ability to use software relevant to the position
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions, seeking guidance as necessary.

Additional information: This position reports directly to the Donor Collections Manager

Hours vary daily based on schedule can be either 7am - 3pm or 12pm - 8pm

To best meet the needs of our donors and community, staff work a variable schedule which may include early mornings, late nights, and on-call to cover weekends and holidays

A schedule is provided two weeks in advance

The first two weeks of training will take place onsite at our blood center at 1465 Valley Center Parkway Bethlehem, PA.
