Lead Mobile Phlebotomist

The Mobile Phlebotomy Team Lead will maintain a daily phlebotomy route while acting as a primary contact for an assigned team of phlebotomists. The Team Lead is primarily responsible for ensuring excellence in service and specimen quality, as well as for communicating updates to their assigned team and feedback from the team to the Phlebotomy Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Team Supervision and Coordination
    • Oversee a team of mobile phlebotomists, ensuring timely and accurate specimen collection within assigned routes and schedules.
    • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members; provide ongoing training and support to existing staff.
    • Collaborate with the Phlebotomy Manager to maintain and improve training materials and protocols.
    • Perform regular skills assessments and monitor team metrics to ensure high performance and compliance with company standards.
    • Assist with overall route scheduling and coordinate STAT and weekend draws on a rotating basis.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance
    • Ensure all team members deliver samples to the lab within stability timeframes, accompanied by complete and accurate paperwork.
    • Maintain regular contact with assigned facilities and staff to ensure service satisfaction and address any concerns promptly.
    • Assist with corrections and missing information requests from Laboratory and Billing teams.
    • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Communication and Customer Service
    • Serve as a friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable representative of PHS's laboratory services.
    • Communicate any current or potential customer issues within the assigned territory, offering suggestions for resolution.
    • Address all service concerns and respond promptly to requests from staff and facilities.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain detailed records of time worked and mileage; ensure team members correctly submit time and mileage for payroll.
    • Ensure proper documentation for sample collection and reporting.
    • Monitor team metrics and create tracking reports for management review.
  • Other Duties
    • Provide coverage for sample collection duties when needed.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the manager.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 1–2 years of mobile phlebotomy experience, past experience as a phlebotomy team lead or manager is a plus.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of Nursing Home, Assisted Living and Home Health operations and logistics of maintaining smooth phlebotomy program.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
  • Can-do work ethic, positive attitude and ability to independently resolve problems.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for prolonged periods while performing specimen collection
  • Comfortable driving for extended stretches to various patient locations.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small instruments and performing precise blood draws.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under high-stress situations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to scheduling changes and varying patient needs.
