The Division of Health Psychology at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital is pleased to announce a full time position opening for a psychologist (PhD/PsyD) to support Tallwood Men's Health's Farmington, CT location. Tallwood Men's Health is a dynamic practice comprised of a clinically integrated team of specialties including urology, cardiology, endocrinology, primary care, and medical and surgical weight loss, offering "Complete Care for Every Man."
Job Summary
This is a highly collaborative position, closely connected to the team of interdisciplinary providers, all of whom are aligned in the core mission of improving the health of men with a variety of medical conditions, including sexual dysfunction, cancer, obesity, sleep disorders, and heart disease. The providers at Tallwood Men's Health recognize the important role of behavioral health in the treatment of these conditions, and the psychologist is considered a core member of the clinical team. The psychologist will craft a strong program to support the behavioral health of this population, understanding the unique needs and challenges that men face in accessing behavioral health care, particularly as it relates toissues like sexual dysfunction, urological disorders, and depression.
Job Responsibilities
  • Providing behavioral health services to adults, including diagnostic assessment and evaluation of treatment needs of medical patients, collaboration and consultation with medical providers, brief and evidence-based individual and group treatments for behavioral and mental health issues,
  • Independent maintenance of treatment records and timely documentation
  • Effective utilization of screening measures and assessment tools
  • Data management including tracking symptoms and treatment outcomes
  • Participating in research and program development
  • Developing and implementing psychoeducational materials for use in the medical setting
  • Participating in team meetings, case management and coordination, community education and outreach, and communication with outside providers
  • Presenting at Grand Rounds and other training and educational experiences to help educate providers and staff about psychological topics.
  • Opportunities exist to supervise Health Psychology trainees

Qualifications:
Qualifications
  • Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology (PhD.) or Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited institution
  • One year APA-approved internship in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Health Psychology
  • Licensed to practice Psychology in the State of Connecticut
  • Training and experience in clinical health psychology, integrated primary care, or other medical settings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
