Responsibilities

Peraton Labs is seeking a Strategic Technical Communications Lead to support the BNATCS CTO in translating complex, technical, analytical, and programmatic information into clear, decision-ready products for a wide range of stakeholders. This role sits at the intersection of data, visualization, stakeholder communication, and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate for this position understands how to frame the right questions, shape the right view of the data for the right audience, and apply disciplined judgment when working with AI-generated outputs in high-visibility environments.

This is a rare opportunity to shape how highly technical and AI-enabled work is understood by the people making critical decisions. You will help ensure that complex program realities are communicated with clarity, credibility, and judgment.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Translate complex technical and analytical complexity into clear, accurate, and decision-ready communication products
  • Design dashboard and visualization strategies that answer the questions stakeholders actually need answered
  • Develop multiple views of the same underlying data tailored to technical, executive, and operational audiences
  • Partner with program leadership, analysts, engineers, and data teams to ensure products are accurate, context-aware, and audience-appropriate
  • Utilize internal agentic AI tools to accelerate communication product development while applying strong editorial and strategic judgment
  • Review, curate, edit, and validate AI-generated outputs before it is shared or published
  • Help define narrative structure, presentation logic, and stakeholder relevance for dashboards and other decision-support materials
  • Support senior stakeholders by translating emerging technical work into understandable and actionable insights
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 16+ years of experience, Master's degree with 14 years, or PhD with 10 years of relevant experience in strategic, technical, program, and/or analytics communications or a related/relevant roles
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information clearly to senior decision-makers and mixed audiences
  • Experience supporting tiered audiences spanning technical, executive, and political communities
  • Strong judgment in evaluating whether dashboards, data views or AI-generated outputs are accurate, complete, and ready for distribution
  • Experience defining the purpose and decision logic behind dashboarding or communication products prior to execution
  • Ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams while maintaining accountability for communication quality
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain an FAA Public Trust suitability
  • Must be local to and able to commute to one of our on-site locations: Annapolis Junction, MD; Bowie, MD; or Herndon, VA

  • Background in FAA, DoD, congressional, or other high-visibility public-sector communication environments
  • Experience with dashboarding strategy, executive visualization, or decision-support communications
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted content generation and human-in-the-loop review processes

  • Familiarity with aviation, public-sector modernization, or technically complex mission programs

Target Salary Range$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
