Position Summary
A postdoctoral associate position is available in the group of Dr. Eric Muir at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Department of Radiology and the Biomedical Research Imaging Center. The successful candidate will develop and optimize advanced magnetic resonance imaging techniques at 3T and 7T for imaging the visual system, including the retina, optic nerve, or brain. MRI techniques to assess blood flow, function, diffusion, and CSF flow are of particular interest. The candidate will also develop or improve software for the analysis of these unique MRI data, such as object detection, motion correction, and denoising. These novel MRI tools will be applied to patients with various eye and vision disorders to better understand pathophysiology across the visual system.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD degree in Biomedical/Electrical or related Engineering or Physics.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
PhD degree in Biomedical/Electrical or related Engineering or Physics. Experience with MRI acquisition and data analysis, preferably with familiarity with MRI sequence programming and/or coil design, particularly with Siemens scanners. Experience with programming languages such as Matlab or Python for image and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong organizational skills.
