The opportunity
We are seeking a talented and forward-thinking alloys Materials Scientist with expertise in materials research and development to join our innovative team at the forefront of interdisciplinary research. In this role, you will leverage cutting edge experimental techniques to accelerate materials discovery, design, and optimization, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in materials science.
Mission
  • Design and execute experiments to synthesize and characterize materials, leveraging AI algorithms to guide experimental design and interpretation.
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets generated from experiments, simulations, and external sources to extract valuable insights into materials properties and behavior.
  • Work closely with AI scientists and engineers to translate materials properties, identify structure-property relationships, and optimize materials performance for specific applications.
  • Stay current with advancements in materials science theory and experimentation and apply new methodologies and techniques to advance research objectives.
  • Communicate research findings effectively through technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and the development of intellectual property.
About you
  • PhD or Masters degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymers, or a related field
  • Strong background in materials science principles, including materials synthesis and characterization.
  • Deep knowledge of materials characterization and testing, as well as familiarity with laboratory safety protocols.
  • In-depth industry knowledge of metal synthesis, including potentials, limitations, and key process and equipment suppliers.
  • Specialized metallurgical knowledge and experience in metallographic and fractographic interpretation, corrosion, oxidation and materials characterization techniques is desired.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex datasets, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and research findings to diverse audiences.
Pluses
  • Experience with AI-driven materials research, including machine learning models for materials property prediction, materials informatics, and data-driven materials discovery.
  • Familiarity with one or more software languages (Python, C++, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Prior experience in transitioning AI + computational research into production environments.
