A Brief Overview:
Looking for a self-motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the Center for Psychiatric Genetics of Endeavor Health Research Institute, academically affiliated with the University of Chicago. This position will be reporting to a PI/Supervisor who is a Professor at the University of Chicago. The lab's research focus is on using patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)-derived neurons and brain organoids models to study the molecular and neurobiological basis of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders (Forrest MP. et a., Cell Stem Cell. 2017; Zhang S. et al., Science. 2020; Zhang S. et al., Cell Genomics 2023; Kozlova A. et al., Nature 2025; Liang L. et al., Science 2026). The laboratory work will involve iPSC neural modeling, single cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, CRISPRi/a for gene perturbation, scaled morphological and electrophysiological analyses of neurons and brain organoids. The current position is NIH grant-funded. In this role, you will take a lead in developing brain organoid models carrying disease risk alleles to study molecular and cellular phenotypes relevant to neurodevelopmental and/or neurodegenerative disorders. You will also have the opportunity to take part in single-cell ATAC-seq/RNA-seq experiment and analyses. This position reports directly to the PI. This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible
What you will do:
  • Take a lead in work involved in NIH funded projects
  • Work independently under supervision of the PI
  • Ability to prepare scientific manuscripts for publication
  • Ability to develop scientific proposals to apply for fellowships
  • Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect experiment or reporting of results and of taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel
  • Comply with NorthShore University HealthSystem research guidelines Follow Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulations and local, state, and federal research regulations
  • Ability to assist in submission of research applications, revisions, periodic progress reports

What you will need:
  • Education: PhD or MD required in a science field
  • Experience: Background in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Neuroscience, or functional Genomics preferred. Experience with neuroscience research, especially iPSC culture and organoid differentiation is preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills
