JOB DESCRIPTION
- ADJUNCT

Both the Undergraduate Department of Education and the School of Graduate Education are hiring adjuncts to teach courses in their departments.
The Adjunct Instructor of Education will teach undergraduate courses in early childhood, special education, English language learners, or pedagogy.
The Adjunct Instructor of Education will teach graduate courses in curriculum and instruction, reading, school counseling, or trauma-informed pedagogy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach Undergraduate Courses in Education
  • Teaches through in-person instruction
  • Teaches curriculum aligned with InTASC and ORU standards
  • Engages students in the learning process through hands-on and inquiry-based teaching methods
  • Maintains an accurate and current grade book
  • Communicates with students regularly through Brightspace
  • Utilizes Zoom technology for Hy-Flex students
  • Reports to the Undergraduate Department Chair

Teach Graduate Courses in Education
  • Teaches through in-person instruction
  • Teaches curriculum aligned with InTASC and ORU standards
  • Engages students in the learning process through hands-on and inquiry-based teaching methods
  • Maintains an accurate and current grade book
  • Communicates with students regularly through Brightspace
  • Utilizes Zoom technology for Hy-Flex students
  • Reports to the Graduate Department Chair
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
  • Holds a Master's or Doctoral degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, ESL, or Special Education for undergraduate teaching positions.
  • Holds a Doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Reading, School Counseling, or Trauma-Informed Education for graduate teaching positions. If a candidate for hire holds a terminal degree in an education-related field, a minimum of 18 hours of master's or doctoral courses are required in one of the following: reading, curriculum and instruction, school counseling, or trauma-informed education.
  • Experience in teaching P-12 (minimum of three years required)
  • Experience using Brightspace or other LMS

PREFERRED:
  • Experience in teaching at the higher education level
  • Experience as a Reading Specialist for graduate courses
  • Experience as a Curriculum Coach for graduate courses
  • Experience as a School Counselor for graduate courses

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Understands pedagogical content knowledge and skills
  • Integrates technology during classroom teaching
  • Uses strong oral and written communication skills
  • Uses hands-on teaching strategies and best practices
  • Maintains compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
