Description PT Faculty, Biotechnology Salary: Based on Qualifications Opening date: Spring 2024 Target Start Date: Fall 2024 Type: Part-time, Faculty with teaching responsibilities Provide effective instruction to students in the classroom (in-person and/or online) by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to evaluate student performance in curriculum and continuing education courses. Some content development will require the person in this position to record and edit videos as needed for course development. Also develop hands on engaging activities to enhance student engagement and success.

Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional resources outside of class, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner so as to promote student success. Stay current in the chosen field and teaching methodology by meeting or exceeding all institutional professional development guidelines, participating in professional development workshops and seminars, and participating in professional organizations and reading journals in the teaching and field of Biotechnology. Maintain accurate records such as attendance, grades, information for accreditation, and other important data and submit reports according to college policies.

Example of Duties Create and carry out lesson plans to ensure industry-relevant content in courses for both in-person and online courses. Assess student learning outcomes. Teach according to department lesson plans and maintain proper record keeping.

Classes may include basic biotechnology, advanced biotechnology courses or continuing education courses. The successful candidate must have the ability to operate equipment associated with the course curriculum and departmental procedures. Carry out other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution in Biotechnology, Biosciences, Life Science or a related field, plus 18 hours of graduate coursework in the discipline (biology, chemistry or combination) Minimum of 2 years work experience in a laboratory setting such as: . Research or academic setting . Industry related experience to biotechnology/life sciences Applicants are expected to demonstrate skills needed to communicate specific knowledge.

Current driver's license Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively in educational/training environments Computer literate Preferred: Masters Degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution in Biotechnology or a related field Supervisory Experience Teaching experience Industry Recognized Credentials Supplemental Information An ACC on-line application MUST be fully completed for consideration, which includes a required letter of interest, transcript attachment. Resume attachments are welcome but will not be accepted in lieu of complete application Supervision: The position reports to the Department Head of Biotechnology and will work in conjunction with the curriculum program.
