Job Summary
The Agronomy Department in the College of Agriculture at Purdue University is seeking applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor (full time, academic year appointment with some summer support available) with primary teaching responsibilities in School-Based Agricultural Education teacher preparation. The expected start date is August 17, 2026. This position will be joint with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education. The successful candidate will lead an innovative teaching, engagement and research program focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Agricultural Education teacher preparation program, contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning, and mentor graduate students in this space. They will provide service to the program, department, college, and university, and engage with stakeholders at all levels. We welcome applications from candidates with classroom experience, and a strong vision for teaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
Applicant must possess a PhD or EdD in agricultural education or closely related field by the start of the appointment. A minimum three years of successful middle and/or high school agriculture teaching experience is required. Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are also required. Candidates must be eligible for Instructional License in CTE: Agriculture. Experience in college-level School-Based Agricultural Education teacher preparation instruction is desired.
Job Responsibilites
The successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized teaching, research and engagement program focused on preparing future teachers of School-Based Agricultural Education. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Agricultural Education teacher preparation program, mentor and serve as career advisor for undergraduate students, develop curriculum, serve as the university student teacher supervisor for Agricultural Education student teachers, and assist with the teacher education licensure accreditation process for Agricultural Education. Course modality is generally in person. The potential may exist for teaching online/distance courses during the academic year. The successful candidate will contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning, and mentor graduate students in this space. They will provide service to the program, school, college, and university through committee participation, stakeholder collaboration, co-advisor of the IAAE-Purdue student organization, exploration of re-establishing Purdue's Alpha Tau Alpha Honorary Agricultural Education student organization, and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
