Job description

SUMMARY: Department: Hospital Inpatient FTE: .9 (72 hours per pay period) Workdays: Monday - Friday and every 3rd weekend Shift(s): Day/Evening Shift Length: 8 hours Location: In-Person *Other:*Benefits eligible

*Purpose of this position:*Performs a variety of technical and clerical pharmacy duties allowed by law under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Fosters and maintains a positive image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately prepares, packages, labels, and delivers medications after they are checked by a registered pharmacist, intern, or qualified technician checker
  • Correctly performs pharmaceutical calculations to ensure correct doses are dispensed
  • Aseptically prepares IV admixtures and other sterile products as requested (when trained)
  • Triages pharmacy phone calls and resolves issues as able
  • Inspects and maintains medication supply throughout the facility. Removes and replaces outdated medications from the pharmacy, clinics, nursing stations, and Automated Dispensing Cabinets
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, is a team player, and promotes a positive team environment
  • Demonstrates good decision making skills, problem solving techniques, and possesses the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Maintains and improves pharmacy workflow
  • Performs patient charging and other pharmacy financial activities when needed
  • Uses and maintains pharmacy equipment, medication rooms, and work areas according to approved procedures
  • Performs additional pharmacy technician duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: /Minimum Qualifications:/

  • High School Diploma or GED

/Preferred Qualifications:/

  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems
  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience
