Founded in 1968, Medical Clinic of Houston, L.L.P. ("MCH") is an independent, multi-specialty physician group practice. Our goal is to provide excellent medical care in a compassionate and service-oriented environment utilizing the latest medical technology. MCH specializes in adult (ages 17+) Internal Medicine and also offersthe following sub-specialties: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, and Medical Oncology/Hematology.


At MCH, our patients have same-day access to comprehensive in-house ancillary and diagnostic support services including: non-invasive cardiology studies (e.g., cardiac PET and nuclear treadmill tests, regular treadmill stress tests, and echocardiograms); chemotherapy and other infusion services; laboratory; diagnostic imaging including x-ray, mammography, ultrasound, bone density studies, CT, and MRI; nutrition and diabetes education; and executive and corporate health and travel services.


Summary


Manage inventory and compound medications associated with the infusion center. Coordinate activities in the department ensuring accuracy and completeness of work, proper inventory amounts, chemotherapy manipulation, and adherence to USP practice standards, Medical Clinic of Houston L.L.P. Code of Conduct, and clinic policy and standard operating procedures.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Dispenses and compounds parental medications, including chemotherapy upon delegation of a Physician and direct supervision of both Physician and Registered Nurse.
  • Manages infusion center medications and medical supplies.
  • Maintains a clean and safe operation of biological safety cabinets.
  • Adheres to aseptic and sterile technique when compounding medication.
  • Coordinates cleaning of compounding area and periodical preventive maintenance of BSC.
  • Receives, stocks, restocks, maintains accurate account of medications using LynxMobile systems.
  • Maintain current inventory with a two-three day inventory on hand (IOH) and reconciles invoices.
  • Attends training classes and departmental meetings as required.
  • Maintains expiration dates and low cost items within the inventory management systems.
  • Coordinates purchasing with nursing staff, staff scheduler, and buyer.
  • Maintains and manages accurate compounding records.
  • Ensures compliance with all State and Federal regulations, as applicable to the area of responsibility.
  • Reports incidents in a timely manner and within 24 hours.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate late add-on patients.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described here.


Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • PTCB Certificate.
  • 40 ACPE hours for Sterile Products (IV Certified).
  • 2 years experience as a chemotherapy technician from a hospital, clinic or equivalent compounding sterile product experience.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of oncology drugs, DMARDs, and terms.
  • Has ability to solve medication calculations (interview and annual exam).
