Job Description

Trade Strategy and Marketing at AbbVie has evolved significantly from an operational and tactical function for selecting products to one requiring the development of complex pharmacy, distribution, and patient-access strategies across the portfolio. A key component of this evolution is the growing need to support patients with complex, chronic conditions who require high-touch coordination across specialty pharmacy, distribution, payer access, HCP engagement, patient services, and ongoing therapy management.

Within Parkinson's, AbbVie has an important opportunity to shape the future of care through VYALEV and upcoming pipeline assets. These therapies require thoughtful trade and distribution strategy due to the complexity of the patient journey, the importance of timely onboarding, coordination across multiple stakeholders, and the need for a seamless experience from prescription through therapy initiation and continuation. As treatment innovation advances in Parkinson's, the role of Trade Strategy & Marketing becomes increasingly critical in ensuring that channel partners are prepared to support launch execution, patient access, product availability, and long-term adherence.

The expectations of pharmacies and channel partners in the health care ecosystem are rapidly evolving as technology, data, and service-model innovation reshape the patient experience. Specialty pharmacies are increasingly expected to do more than dispense product; they must support patient connectivity, benefit coordination, affordability navigation, clinical education, adherence, and data-driven visibility into the patient journey. These evolving expectations create a need for AbbVie to define clear specialty pharmacy and distribution value propositions, identify strategic channel partners, and design solutions that support both brand objectives and the needs of Parkinson's patients, caregivers, and providers.

The Associate Director, Trade Strategy & Marketing - Parkinson's is responsible for assessing and identifying business opportunities within the specialty pharmacy and distribution channel, and developing and implementing strategic initiatives with pharmacy, wholesaler, and cross-functional partners to enhance patient onboarding, improve therapy initiation, support adherence, and prepare the channel for future Parkinson's pipeline launches. This role, supporting VYALEV and Parkinson's pipeline assets, requires a strong understanding of brand strategy, market access dynamics specifically medical benefit coverage for a product and device delivery system, patient services, pharmacy operations, and launch execution. With a strategic mindset and an eye toward innovation, the Associate Director will serve as a key advisor and consultant to Integrated Brand Teams and cross-functional leadership on trade channel opportunities, risks, and execution priorities.

Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Embrace the Trade Marketing Team culture by cultivating an inclusive community that encourages diversity, synchronicity, agility, transparency, and collective development.
  • Lead the development of AbbVie's Parkinson's trade strategy, with a focus on specialty pharmacy, distribution, patient onboarding, therapy initiation, adherence, and channel readiness for VYALEV and future pipeline assets.
  • Partner with specialty pharmacies, wholesalers, and other channel stakeholders to accelerate patient connectivity, support product access, facilitate purchasing and distribution, and improve visibility across key patient journey touchpoints.
  • Execute launch excellence in the Trade channel by preparing specialty pharmacy, distribution, account management through strong cross functional collaboration, program management, and marketing asset development to ensure successful launches and ongoing brand management within the Parkinson's portfolio.
  • Identify and evaluate strategic channel partners that can enhance AbbVie's ability to meet the evolving needs of Parkinson's patients, caregivers, and HCPs.
  • Serve as the Trade lead in collaboration with Brand, Market Access, AbbVie Patient Services, Demand Planning, Customer Service, MABI, and Trade account teams to address access, onboarding, distribution, and product availability opportunities.
  • Lead the development, evolution, and execution of Parkinson's-specific Trade value propositions throughout the brand lifecycle, ensuring alignment with brand strategy, market access priorities, patient services capabilities, and channel partner needs.
  • Represent Trade on Integrated Brand Teams and launch planning forums for VYALEV and Parkinson's pipeline assets.
  • Facilitate Trade input into annual strategic planning, launch planning, and pipeline planning processes for the Parkinson's portfolio.
  • Develop high-impact materials, account tools, and strategic resources for the pharmacy account team that support stakeholder engagement and deliver on functional brand strategic objectives.
  • Manage strategic agency partnerships supporting Trade strategy, launch readiness, channel partner engagement, and tactical execution across the Parkinson's portfolio.
  • Serve as the primary lead for strategic Trade opportunities, including pharmacy investments, launch initiatives, distribution enhancements, data visibility, and programs designed to improve patient access while supporting brand performance and Gross-to-Net objectives.
  • Synthesize complex and sometimes incomplete pharmacy, hub, payer, and distribution data sets to inform strategic decisions, identify channel friction, and recommend solutions to improve the patient journey.
  • Monitor and assess specialty pharmacy performance, inventory dynamics, referral flow, time to fill, cancellation drivers, dispense trends, and other key indicators of channel effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership with clear, data-driven recommendations on trade strategy, channel performance, launch readiness, and opportunities to improve execution across the Parkinson's portfolio.
