Job description

Department administrator. Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards and objectives. Directs and supervises staff as well as work

flow. Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability. Responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of the Pharmacy by exerting a

leadership role which supports the hospital's mission, vision, goals and objectives, while focusing on the patients, physicians, employees,

volunteers and the community as customers. Ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination and integration of

the department services and standards of care into the hospital's primary function. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, employee

evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards and approving supply orders

    • Minimum Requirements
      • Experience: Five years experience as a Pharmacist in a hospital setting.
      • Education: Graduate of Accredited School of Pharmacy
      • Certifications: Current Pharmacist license in the State of Arizona.
  • Preferred Requirements

    • Experience: Three years as a Supervisor.

    -Responsible for Budget preparation and adherence based on volume

    -Responsible for Supply Chain Management for Department needs

    -Monitor productivity/cost per unit of service on a regular basis to meet established budgetary guidelines. As necessary establish and implement action plans when variances occur

    - Plans work assignments and resource allocation with full consideration of timeliness and financial impact

  • PEOPLE

    -Complete timely 30 day stay interviews and 90 days and annual evaluations

    -Hires, terminates, trains, evaluates performance and supervises staff to provide professional, courteous and timely services 3

    -Review turnover trends and develop action plans to address unanticipated variances

    -Promotes employee engagement thru staff participation in department operations and activities as measured thru employee engagement tools

    -Appropriately manages staff to ensure compliance with applicable standards, adheres to organization's policies and procedures, including standards of behavior and safety guidelines

    - Enhances communication between various levels of staff, departments and customers to promote a caring and respectful work environment

    - Provides direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner and ensures follow-through

    -. Cultivates and promotes staff expertise and knowledge relevant to the needs of the specific environment.

    -Assists with the formation, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, and competencies

    -Performs the necessary edits for Kronos time management system and payroll

  • SERVICE

    -Engage physicians to promote physician's relations as measured by physician satisfaction survey

    -Assists and/or promotes positive patient experience thru various stages of care as measured by patient satisfaction survey

    -Develops and implements actions plans to improve the overall patient satisfaction scores

    -Promotes excellence in patient experience

    - Interacts effectively and efficiently with management and staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner

    - Assures proper function, maintenance and repair of all instrumentation and equipment, including repair records, service contracts, and preventive maintenance schedules

    -Works closely with the nursing and medical staffs and other clinical department managers in addressing pharmaceutical services issues as they are related to the services provided to all patients ranging from the newborn to the elderly

  • QUALITY

    -Maintains and monitors JCAHO and other regulatory requirements

    -Gathers and reports quality indicators generated by department activity

    -Support organization strategies to meet core measure goals

    -Develops and implements action plans to improve patient experience

  • GROWTH

    - Support organization strategies to increase volumes

    -Mentors and develops staff
