Job Title: Research Assistant
Department: Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences
Supervisor: Amarylis Wanschel
Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00/hr
Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.
Department Description:
The Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences is committed to the education, training, and lifelong learning opportunities for pharmacy students as well as pharmacists, scientists and educators that enhance the lives within our community, nation and world. The Department is dedicated to the creation, dissemination and application of knowledge gained through state of the art biomedical and pharmaceutical research that enhances understanding of disease processes and leads to the development and refinement of therapies to enhance the quality of life through improved healthcare.
Job Description:
The applicant is responsible for performing general care and maintenance of laboratory, cell culture room, equipment and facilities and supporting research efforts. The applicant will have the opportunity to learn cell culture techniques and apply molecular biology assays regularly in the lab. The applicant will participate in preparing samples to be processed at Wake Forest University for Lipidomic, Metabolomic, and Proteomic analysis.
Job Location/ Hours Required:
The candidate will perform all job duties in Cogndon Hall. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements. This position requires a minimum of 8 hours per week. Some weekend work may be required.
Responsibilities:
  • Complete all necessary training modules for working with laboratory cell culture.
  • Accurate and thorough documentation and recordkeeping
  • Management of lab supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
