The PSG Pharmacy Solutions Group of Ohio is currently recruiting for a Pharmacy Purchasing Manager.

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of purchasing pharmaceutical products and supplies, ensuring efficient inventory management, cost control, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves collaborating with the Director of Purchasing, pharmacy staff, vendors, and other departments to maintain optimal inventory levels and support the pharmacy's operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing Management:
    • Oversee the procurement of medications, medical supplies, and pharmacy equipment.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
    • Monitor market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Inventory Control:
    • Manage inventory levels, ensuring the availability of essential medications while minimizing excess stock.
    • Implement inventory management systems and practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
    • Conduct regular audits of inventory and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as internal policies related to purchasing and inventory management.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and inventory levels for reporting and auditing purposes.
    • Collaborate with pharmacy staff to address any issues related to medication quality or supply disruptions.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and train purchasing staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance.
    • Foster a collaborative environment among pharmacy and purchasing teams to improve workflow and communication.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with pharmacy management, clinical staff, and other departments to forecast medication needs and optimize purchasing strategies.
    • Communicate effectively with vendors to resolve issues related to orders, deliveries, and returns.
    • Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, inventory status, and budget performance to management.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED Required. Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pharmacy purchasing, inventory management, or a related area.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent organization and time management.
    • Experience with pharmacy wholesale use.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Preference given to candidates with SureCost experience.
  • Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or equivalent preferred.

Work Environment:

  • This position typically works in a pharmacy setting.
  • May require occasional overtime or weekend work during peak periods.
