Job description

Crouseโ€™s Pharmacy team is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to assist the Pharmacist in the activities related to medication order entry, processing, and delivery.ย  Will also assist the Pharmacist in the activities related to compounding sterile IV solutions, syringes, TPNs, and oral syringes

Pay Range: $21.42 - $36.34 / hour

Available Schedule:

  • Per diem: scheduled as needed: 7:00am-3:30pm, 3:00pm-11:30pm, 3:00pm-3:30am, 8:30pm-7:00am

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities:
ย 

  • Prepares IV medication batches of large volumes, minis, and bulk syringes completely, accurately, in an organized manner, and in the prescribed time to ensure timely distribution to nursing units.
  • Maintains complete records; drug diluent, manufacturer, lot number, and expiration date for all products batched.
  • Orders and puts away stock for the IV and TPN areas. Pulls supplies including frozen and premix IVs before the end of the shift. Takes appropriate action with discontinuation and transfer labels.
  • Draws up oral unit dose syringes, in an organized manner, and in the prescribed time to ensure timely distribution to the nursing units.
  • Works in TPN program under the supervision of a Pharmacist including tubing set-up for the automated compounder following protocol instructions and aseptic technique. Demonstrates ability to set up, calibrate, operate, and trouble shoot the automated compounder.
  • Draws up and injects any manual additives after they are checked by the Pharmacist. Spikes the TPN bag with the appropriate tubing, places in a zip-lock bag, and leaves for a Pharmacist to verify.
  • Maintains complete batching records and utilizes the DoseEdge or Simplifi797 computer systems to document activities.

Pharmacy Technician Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • National certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
  • Licensed and registration from NYS as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • National certification must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Previous Pharmacy experience preferred
