This Product Design Engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of Pexco's next-generation aerospace products and enhance the current product portfolio. The successful candidate will be able to work with team members and use their expertise to bring a product to realization. Responsibilities:
Engineering- New Technologies Realization (Project based activity)
  • Conduct research and development, collaborating with other disciplines to turn concepts and ideas into reality.
  • Operate plastic processing equipment for development, testing and validation, including twin and single screw extrusion machines, injection molders and ancillary equipment.
  • Operate laboratory test equipment to validate project results.
  • Review results and document test outcomes.
  • Provide regular project status updates to Engineering leadership
  • Actively define, research, and implement new technologies and best practices to advance injection molding, CNC, rapid prototyping, and rapid tooling.
  • Conduct reverse engineering activities, including 3D scanning and materials analysis.
  • Perform and contribute to product design activities
  • Perform and contribute to product certification efforts.
  • Recommend acquisition or development of additional tools, software, and equipment.
  • Work with customers to define design needs as required.
  • Work with internal experts to brainstorm and conceptualize.
  • Support product manufacturing transition from R&D to Production.
  • Protect company intellectual property - Internal Process Knowledge.

Engineering- Life Cycle Engineering (PRP- Product Realization Planning)
  • Perform and contribute to method of manufacturing definition for new products.
  • Support quoting efforts as required.
  • Support the BOM & Router Revision process.
  • Design tooling for manufacturing processes. (extrusion, injection molding, fabricated part fixturing etc.)
  • Create manufacturing drawings from customer supplied documents.
  • Supports other departments in their engineering needs.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis of product quality issues and equipment failures.
  • Work with Suppliers for Materials, Technologies, and Tooling/Equipment.

Continuous Improvement
  • Work with Pexco Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering to continually improve our products.
  • Monitor and validate existing products and processes to develop and execute continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate and address observed risks and opportunities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant engineering field preferred.
  • A team player; maintaining a productive and professional manner.
  • Strong documentation and organization skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and relationship management skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD (preferably AutoDesk (AutoCAD), Catia, SolidWorks) preferred.
  • Understanding of plastic materials, extrusion and injection molding processes preferred
  • Hands on experience operating plastics melt processing equipment (extruders, molders etc.) is a plus.
  • Hands on experience operating laboratory test equipment is a plus.
