Job description

The focus of the Petsmart Adoption Ambassador role is to adopt out as many cats and kittens to families visiting our Petsmart partner stores as possible each weekend. This is critical every week as we strive to balance adoptions with new intakes to prevent overcrowding at the largest open admission shelter in NJ.

The hours for this position are 8:30AM-4PM every Saturday and Sunday, and consistency and reliability every weekend is essential for the Petsmart Adoption Ambassador.

The Petsmart Adoption Ambassador arrives to the shelter every Saturday or Sunday by 8:30AM, loads the cats/kittens selected to go into their vehicle with any necessary supplies, and then drives the cats/kittens to Petsmart to set up the pop-up adoption event. The goal is always to get all of the cats/kittens adopted, but if any of them do not get adopted, the Petsmart Adoption Ambassador will bring them back to the shelter after the event. All Petsmart partner stores are within a 30 minute drive from the shelter. Reliable transportation and having your own car is a must. We do reimburse mileage at the standard reimbursement rate.

The successful Petsmart Adoption Ambassador has excellent customer service skills and is very engaging with customers entering the Petsmart store. This is essential to maximize the number of adoptions. A comfort level and experience with handling cats/kittens is also preferred.
