GTG Peterbilt - Davenport is a family-owned full service Peterbilt truck dealership serving eastern Iowa since 1973. We have worked hard to provide the trucking industry with the highest quality products, sold and serviced by dedicated people to provide the highest return for our customers.

We have an immediate opening for an Experienced Body Shop Technician in Wichita, KS. The successful candidate will repair or replace damaged body parts back to pre-accident condition per factory and dealership specifications. The result will be a quality repair that meets or exceeds the original factory fit and be an invisible repair.
Requirements
  • Review each repair order and estimator's notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on the truck.
  • Install and repair truck equipment per the manufacturer's technical repair process.
  • Complete jobs within established time frames.
  • Perform work and maintain 98% return - free work.
  • Communicates with the shop foreman or manager if additional parts are needed to finish a repair.
  • Informs Body Shop Manager of all customer concerns so they may be handled before the vehicle leaves the shop.
  • Develops good relations with customers, adjusters, and insurance companies.
  • Maintains a high quality of work.
  • Provides proper housekeeping of the Body Shop area and overall shop appearance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills:
  • Solid working knowledge of power tools required to perform all phases of truck/chassis repair.
  • Good communication in both verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experienced Painter.
  • Training in body shop repair and estimating required.
  • Training in welding preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass mandatory pre-employment drug screen and background check

Education:
  • Preferred minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience: 2+ years of Body Shop and/or Mechanical
Additional Information
  • Physical: Working in, under, and around trucks and trailers. Ability to lift, push or pull, objects of various shapes, sizes and weights. Safely walk, reach, bend, climb, push, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the essential job duties. Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Environmental: Primarily indoors with some outdoor work. High noise level. Uniforms, ear, and eye protection provided.
