Davis Pet Hospital is a full service veterinary hospital offering wellness care, surgery, internal medicine, hospitalization, and dental care. As one of the few AAHA-accredited clinics in the area, our team of veterinarians and support staff adhere to the highest standards of facility and pet care.
Position Purpose
Davis Pet Hospital in Collinsville, IL is adding another veterinarian to our AAHA-accredited practice!
Our team currently consists of 5 veterinarians that have accumulated many combined years of experience; supporting them are 4 CVT's and 3 CVT's in training! Our technicians are extremely competent and well utilized for monitoring anesthesia, catheter placement, radiographs, blood draws and more. Our team is cohesive, compassionate, and we truly allow each other to practice the best medicine. We are confident that any new veterinarian will flourish as a part of our team!
We welcome doctors of all experience levels - for new graduates, all of our current doctors are excited about mentoring. Our busy practice will ensure a steady and versatile caseload.
For doctors with a surgical interest, our surgical caseload consists of:
  • routine soft tissue
  • simple fracture repair
  • emergency surgery (c-section, pyometra, foreign body)
  • cruciate repairs
  • splenectomies
  • cystotomies and more!

About the area: Collinsville is located in Southern Illinois, just outside of St. Louis. When driving in, you will notice our famously recognized water tower that is painted to resemble a catsup bottle! The area is a historical destination with the Cahokia Mounds and their many acres of preserved settlements and archaeological remains stretching throughout the area. Because of our large Italian population, we host the largest annual Italian festival in the Midwest. The International Horseradish festival and Smokin' on Main barbecue festival are other events you'll never want to miss. Collinsville is also home to a unique culinary scene, great breweries and more!
Essential Responsibilities
  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients' medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications
  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range
USD $100,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.
