How much do pet modeling jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 11, 2026, the average yearly pay for pet modeling in the United States is $54,686.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $54,500.00 and $55,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Pet Model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Pet Model, animals need basic obedience, a calm temperament, and the ability to follow commands, while handlers or owners may benefit from experience in animal training. Familiarity with photography or film set environments and sometimes animal talent agency registration are typical requirements. Patience, adaptability, and strong communication between pet and handler are crucial soft skills for managing unpredictable settings. These skills ensure that pets perform reliably and safely during shoots, leading to successful campaigns and repeat bookings.

What Are Pet Modeling Jobs?

Pet modeling jobs are available for animals that are properly socialized and can adapt to the demands of changing environments. Many pets start their careers in advertising or as an actor in a commercial. There are also a variety of jobs working in the pet modeling industry. You can find positions for professionals who train and manage pet models, as well as support staff who care for and groom animals between photo shoots or filming. Other employment opportunities include agent roles, where your primary responsibilities are to represent clients or pet agencies who serve models and their owners. You may also work as a photographer to assist individuals with building a portfolio that will help get work for a dog, cat, or another animal.

What is pet modeling?

Pet modeling involves training and presenting animals, typically dogs or cats, for participation in advertising campaigns, television shows, movies, or print media. Pet models are usually selected for their appearance, behavior, and ability to follow commands. Owners often work with talent agencies that specialize in animals to find opportunities for their pets. The process may require training, professional grooming, and attending auditions, and successful pet models can gain exposure and earn income through their work.

What are some common challenges pet models and their handlers face during photo shoots?

One of the main challenges in pet modeling is ensuring that animals remain calm and responsive in unfamiliar environments, especially with bright lights, cameras, and new people around. Handlers must be patient and use positive reinforcement to guide pets through different poses and actions. Collaboration between the photographer, trainer, and pet owner is crucial to capture the desired shots while prioritizing the animal's comfort and safety. Flexibility and quick problem-solving are key, as animals may not always cooperate as planned.

Furry Fellas is currently hiring dependable, experienced animal professionals for dog walking and pet sitting positions in the Cranston area.

This is a great opportunity for individuals looking for active, ongoing pet care work with an established professional company that values reliability, communication, continued education, and high-quality care standards.

CURRENT PRIORITY COVERAGE NEEDS:
• Weekday mornings (7am–10am)
• Weekday afternoons (11am–1pm or 11am–3pm)
• Weekday evenings (4pm–6pm)
• Night availability (7pm–9pm)
• Weekend availability (Sat/Sun)

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

We are currently hiring for multiple recurring coverage positions.

Applicants should have consistent recurring availability for one or more designated service blocks, such as:

Monday–Friday Service Blocks:
• Mornings (7am–10am)

• Evenings (4pm–6pm)

Weekend (Sat/Sun) Service Blocks:
• 7am–9am
• 11am–1pm or 11am–3pm
• 4pm–6pm
• 7pm–9pm

Applicants are not expected to work every service block. However, the selected block(s) should generally remain consistently available for scheduling purposes.

The more recurring coverage blocks an applicant is available for, the greater the opportunity for scheduling, client assignments, and increased hours.

Additional weekday opportunities are available for weekend team members seeking additional hours.

Our scheduling model prioritizes consistency for both pets and clients, so limited, highly restricted, or fragmented availability may not be the best fit for current openings.

IDEAL CANDIDATES:
• Have professional animal experience (pet sitting, veterinary, shelter, daycare, grooming, training, etc.)
• Are dependable, responsive, organized, and experienced working independently
• Live locally within Cranston RI or within approximately 10–15 minutes of the area
• Can independently manage travel routes between client homes
• Are comfortable working within an assigned schedule based on business demand
• Want ongoing work opportunities with a professional team

IMPORTANT SCHEDULING EXPECTATIONS:
We manage scheduling assignments based on client demand and business needs. Team members are responsible for managing their travel routes between visits and arriving reliably and on time to assigned appointments.

Current pay ranges include:
• 15 minute visit: $9
• 20 minute visit: $10
• 30 minute visit: $10.50
• 45 minute visit: $12 or approximately 75% of approved hourly-equivalent rate
• 60 minute/hourly visits starting at $16/hour equivalent with opportunities to increase up to $18/hour equivalent based on experience, certifications, reliability, availability, performance, and overall operational consistency

Additional compensation includes:
• Mileage reimbursement

• Reliable transportation
• Smartphone with internet access
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently

POSITION DETAILS:
• Approximately 10–25 hours per week
• Team members may set a preferred maximum weekly hour range based on availability and coverage needs
• Scheduling and client assignments will typically start gradually and build over time toward desired hours based on performance, availability, service area needs, and client demand

WHAT WE OFFER:
• Established client base
• Supportive office team
