Job description

Professional Pet Care Specialist (Dog Walker & Pet Sitter) - Part Time
About Miami Pet Concierge
Since 2007, Miami Pet Concierge has been one of Miami's most trusted professional in-home pet care companies.
We provide dog walking, pet sitting, cat care, puppy visits, and overnight care throughout Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, South Miami, Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, and surrounding neighborhoods.
Our work is built around a simple idea:
We provide peace of mind when pet owners can't be there.
We are trusted not only for the services we provide, but for the consistency, professionalism, communication, and care that define every visit.
The Role
We are hiring part-time Pet Care Specialists (Dog Walkers & Pet Sitters) who will be responsible for providing reliable, high-quality in-home pet care.
This is a professional role built on trust.
Clients rely on us to show up on time, follow detailed instructions, make sound decisions, and care for both their pets and their homes.
Every visit matters. Every interaction contributes to a client's peace of mind.
What This Role Is Really About
This is not casual pet sitting or occasional gig work.
This is a role for responsible individuals who understand that pet care is built on:
  • Trust
  • Consistency
  • Communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Sound judgment
You are not just completing tasks-you are maintaining a relationship of trust between MPC and our clients.
Responsibilities
Pet Care Specialists are responsible for:
  • Walking dogs (30-60 minutes) based on client instructions
  • Feeding pets and refreshing water
  • Cleaning litter boxes and food bowls
  • Picking up and properly disposing of waste
  • Administering medications when required
  • Observing and reporting changes in behavior or health
  • Locking homes and managing security systems when applicable
  • Sending clear, timely updates and photos to clients
  • Following all client-specific care instructions accurately

What Success Looks Like
Successful Pet Care Specialists consistently:
  • Show up reliably and on time
  • Follow instructions with accuracy and care
  • Notice small but important changes in pets or environment
  • Communicate clearly and proactively
  • Make sound decisions when situations are not straightforward
  • Treat every home with respect and professionalism
  • Build trust with pets and clients over time

Important Location Requirement
Because our services are provided in clients' homes, applicants must live in or very near our service areas.
Preferred locations include:
  • Coral Gables
  • Coconut Grove
  • South Miami
  • Pinecrest
  • Palmetto Bay
  • Dadeland
  • East Kendall

Schedule Availability
This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling between visits.
We are currently experiencing the highest demand for coverage during:
  • Weekday afternoons (approximately 12 PM - 6 PM)
  • Weekends
Availability during these times is helpful, but it is not the primary factor in hiring decisions.
Miami Pet Concierge prioritizes highly qualified candidates who demonstrate professionalism, reliability, sound judgment, and a genuine love of animals, along with a commitment to remain in the role for at least 9 months.
Scheduling needs may vary over time, and strong candidates with different availability are still encouraged to apply.
Requirements
Applicants must:
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have a reliable automobile and valid auto insurance
  • Have a smartphone with camera and data plan
  • Communicate fluently in English
  • Be physically able to walk dogs and climb stairs
  • Be comfortable working outdoors in Miami weather
  • Be dependable, responsible, and detail-oriented
  • Be able to commit to the role for at least 9 months

Previous pet care experience is helpful but not required.
What We Look For
We value qualities that are difficult to teach:
  • Genuine love of animals - pets are treated with patience and care
  • Reliability - showing up consistently and on time
  • Sound judgment - making responsible decisions when situations arise unexpectedly
  • Attention to detail - noticing what others might miss
  • Professionalism - respectful communication and behavior
  • Compassion - patience and empathy for pets of all personalities

What We Offer
  • Paid training
  • Pet CPR & First Aid certification
  • Continuing education
  • Flexible scheduling between visits
  • Holiday incentives
  • Client tips
  • Discounted pet care for personal pets

Why This Role Matters
At Miami Pet Concierge, we do not measure success only by completed visits.
We measure success by the trust clients place in us-and the peace of mind they feel knowing their pets are in capable hands.
Every visit you complete either strengthens or weakens that trust.
Our goal is simple:
Deliver care we would trust for our own pets.
