Position Description: Personal Support Staff
Reports To: Director of Operations & Business Development
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY
The Personal Support Staff provides direct, person-centered support to individuals served in their homes and throughout the community. The position supports individuals with daily living activities, transportation, and community participation while promoting independence, safety, dignity, and quality of life. When not providing direct support to individuals served, staff may assist with HeavenDROPT production and other operational activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely transport individuals served between their homes, appointments, activities, and community destinations.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and support during transportation and community activities.
  • Monitor the needs and safety of individuals served during transportation and community activities and respond appropriately to changes or unexpected situations.
  • Assist individuals served with activities of daily living and personal care needs in accordance with their individual service plans.
  • Support individuals served in participating in recreational, social, and community activities based on their interests and abilities.
  • Promote independence, dignity, choice, and self-direction by encouraging individuals served to make choices, participate in daily routines, and complete tasks to the greatest extent possible.
  • Complete required service documentation and report concerns or incidents in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries when interacting with individuals served, families, coworkers, and community members.
  • Follow individual service plans and Evergreen Life Services policies and procedures.
  • Assist with HeavenDROPT production, packaging, inventory, and operational duties when not providing support to individuals served.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional vehicle and work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the needs of individuals served, Evergreen Life Services, and HeavenDROPT operations.

  • Prioritizing and Organizing Work: Allocates time and attention based on what is most important to achieve key goals and objectives. Effectively organizes and balances tasks and priorities to keep multiple projects on track.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/JOB KNOWLEDGE
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Prior work in a non-profit atmosphere and experience with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to establish respectful and professional relationships with individuals served, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Will not supervise.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Constantly moves about to coordinate work.
  • Regularly works in a fast-paced environment with multiple task deadlines.
  • Regularly moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposed to viruses and infectious conditions.
  • Constantly alert and observant during working hours.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • May be required to attend seminars or job-related training courses.
  • Must have understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Must have the ability to maintain good working relationships with Evergreen staff and with contacts from other agencies or entities.
  • Must have the ability and desire to function as part of a team, yet work with a high degree of independence.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a high degree of autonomy, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.

EMPLOYMENT VARIABLES
  • Must have a good driving record that meets the minimum requirements for Evergreen and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends when required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • May be required to work in a variety of settings and environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Potential exposure to viruses and infectious conditions.

Compensation: $16.00 per hour
