Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and proactive Personal Assistant to support an individual living with a spinal cord injury. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, communicates well, and is responsible.


SCHEDULE

Monday–Friday Weekends 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Weekends 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Personal Care

Prepare the bathroom area before use (lay out clothing, towels, toiletries within reach)

Assist with transfers to and from the chair/wheelchair to the toilet or shower

Provide standby assistance or physical support during transfers to reduce fall risk

Remain nearby for safety monitoring during bathing/toileting as needed

Assist with dressing


Mobility Assistance

Help with transfers and getting in/out of bed or chairs

Assist with wheelchair, walker, or cane


Meals

Plan and prepare meals

Wash dishes and clean the kitchen after meals


Medication & Health Support

Help prepare weekly pill containers

Pick up prescriptions

Assist with physical therapy exercises and home routines

Accompany to appointments, help with scheduling and confirming

Assist with grocery shopping and other essential errands


Household Support

Light cleaning and tidying of main living areas

Laundry and changing bed linens

Trash/recycling, putting away groceries and household supplies

Keeping essential items stocked and accessible

Assisting with the client's dog (letting out, treats/medications)


Physical Therapy Support

Assist getting in/out of the pool using the on-site pool lift

Help attach electrodes for PT/stimulation equipment

Support therapy routines while encouraging independence where possible


Organization & Communication

Help manage the client's calendar and reminders

Communicate important updates to family/care team members

Assist with organizing mail, paperwork, and forms

Help with organization around the house
