Person In Charge information

What are the roles and responsibilities of a person in charge?

A 'Person In Charge' is typically responsible for overseeing operations and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards in a specific setting, such as a food establishment or facility. Their duties may include supervising staff, managing daily activities, addressing safety concerns, and ensuring that all procedures are followed correctly. This role often acts as the point of contact for resolving issues and making crucial decisions in the absence of higher management. The Person In Charge plays a key part in maintaining standards, training employees, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by a person in charge, and how can they be overcome?

As a Person In Charge, a frequent challenge is balancing operational oversight with team management, especially during busy periods. Maintaining clear communication and delegation is essential to ensure tasks are completed efficiently without overwhelming staff. Additionally, handling unexpected issues—such as staffing shortages or customer complaints—requires quick thinking and adaptability. Building strong relationships with team members and staying organized can help mitigate these challenges and create a positive work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a person in charge, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Person In Charge, you need strong leadership abilities, decision-making skills, and often previous supervisory experience or relevant industry qualifications. Familiarity with workplace management systems, scheduling tools, and compliance protocols is typically required. Effective communication, conflict resolution, and adaptability are standout soft skills in this position. These competencies ensure smooth operations, team productivity, and a safe, compliant work environment.

Job description

Lead the Shift. Set the Standard.

We're looking for someone who loves taking ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and knows how to bring out the best in a team.

As a Shift Lead, you're more than just the person in charge—you'll help create the energy of the café, coach the team, and make sure every customer leaves with an amazing experience. You'll lead by example, keep operations running smoothly, and jump in wherever you're needed.

What You'll Be Doing

No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:

  • Lead and motivate a small team throughout your shift
  • Keep products looking and tasting consistently amazing
  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience from the first hello to the last goodbye
  • Stay ahead of the rush by keeping the team organized and focused
  • Coach, support, and guide team members throughout the day
  • Solve problems quickly and confidently
  • Open and/or close the café
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workspace
  • Help create a positive, high-energy atmosphere every shift
You're a Great Fit If You...
  • Have at least 1 year of leadership experience in hospitality
  • Are available to work weekends and holidays
  • Stay calm under pressure and enjoy busy environments
  • Communicate clearly and work well with others
  • Take initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do
  • Pay attention to the little details
  • Lead by example and hold yourself to a high standard
  • Show up consistently and can be counted on
What You'll Get

We believe great people deserve great opportunities.

  • $19–$22/hour (including tips)
  • Monthly bonus opportunities
  • Paid Time Off
  • Health, dental & vision insurance (eligible employees)
  • Holiday pay
  • Free drinks every shift
  • Employee discounts
  • Real opportunities to grow as REVES continues to expand
Why REVES?
