Respiratory Therapist- Permanent Role
Location: Norfolk, VA, 23502
Job Type: Full Time; Permanent
Shift: 8:00 AM End: 4:30 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: $37.00 - $40.00/hr

    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team in Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic conditions during the day shift. This is a full-time, permanent role with guaranteed hours and competitive hourly pay.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures to patients as prescribed by physicians.
    • Monitor and evaluate patients’ responses to treatment and adjust care plans as necessary.
    • Operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol generators.
    • Perform diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas analysis, pulmonary function tests, and pulse oximetry.
    • Respond to emergency situations, including code blue or rapid response team calls.
    • Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and at-home treatment plans.
    • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to deliver optimal patient care.
    • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure documentation complies with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

    Required Requirements:

    • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
    • Licensure: Valid state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Virginia.
    • Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by NBRC.
    • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience.
    • Skills: Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient care skills.
