What is a permanent remote call monitoring?

A Permanent Remote Call Monitoring job involves listening to and evaluating customer service or sales calls from a remote location on a long-term basis. The main goal is to assess call quality, ensure compliance with company standards, and provide feedback to improve customer interactions. These professionals use specialized software to access recorded or live calls, document their observations, and sometimes report findings to management. This role is often fully remote and can be full-time or part-time, depending on the employer's needs. It requires attention to detail, good communication skills, and a strong understanding of customer service protocols.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a permanent remote call monitoring specialist?

To thrive as a Permanent Remote Call Monitoring Specialist, you need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and experience in quality assurance, typically supported by a background in customer service or call center operations. Familiarity with call monitoring software, CRM systems, and reporting tools is essential, and certifications in quality assurance or call center management can be advantageous. Exceptional communication, objectivity, and problem-solving skills help you provide constructive feedback and foster continuous improvement. Mortgage Underwriter – Full-Time, Remote
We are recruiting on behalf of a confidential client in the mortgage brokerage industry.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join a growing mortgage brokerage team in a full-time, permanent remote position.
This role is ideal for a highly organized and detail-oriented mortgage professional who can take ownership of files independently, from the initial introduction-call notes through underwriting, approval, and hand off to Fulfillment.
The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping mortgage files moving efficiently, communicating with clients and lenders, managing deadlines, and ensuring every file is accurate, complete, and positioned appropriately.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to become a trusted, long-term member of a close-knit team and take ownership of the underwriting function as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review introduction-call notes and take ownership of assigned mortgage files.
  • Underwrite new pre-approval applications and live mortgage deals.
  • Review borrower documentation and assess files for completeness, accuracy, and qualification.
  • Determine appropriate lender and product options based on the borrower's circumstances.
  • Research lender guidelines and product requirements when needed.
  • Identify outstanding documentation and requirements and proactively follow up.
  • Submit files to lenders and follow up to ensure approvals are issued promptly.
  • Manage lender conditions, exceptions, escalations, deadlines, and closing dates.
  • Monitor multiple active files and reprioritize quickly as urgent matters arise.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, lenders, lawyers, and internal team members.
  • Respond to client questions and provide clear updates throughout the underwriting process.
  • Review upcoming files with team members and identify what is required to move files forward.
  • Confirm lawyer instructions and required documentation have been issued for upcoming closings.
  • Monitor scheduled closings and follow up on files that have not closed as expected.
  • Complete a thorough hand off to Fulfillment once the underwriting stage is complete.
  • Maintain accurate and organized file records and ensure consistent follow-through.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to review active and live deals.
What We're Looking For
  • Mortgage Agent Level 1 license or higher, with licensing status verified through FSRA.
  • Previous mortgage underwriting experience with the ability to assess independently and manage files.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products, lender guidelines, qualification requirements, and current lending practices.
  • Experience using Velocity is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional organization and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong independent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to research and problem-solve before escalating routine questions.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Professional and confident when communicating with clients and lenders.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and responding quickly when priorities change.

Who Will Succeed in This Role?
The successful candidate will be:
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Accountable and dependable.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Strong at prioritizing and multitasking.
  • Confident making sound underwriting decisions.
  • Resourceful and solutions-oriented.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Committed to accuracy and consistent follow-through.
