What is a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer?

A Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer is a telecommunications professional responsible for analyzing and improving the performance of Radio Access Networks (RAN) on a long-term, full-time basis. Their main duties include monitoring network performance, identifying issues, and implementing solutions to optimize signal quality, capacity, and coverage. They work with technologies such as 4G LTE and 5G, using specialized tools to ensure efficient data and voice transmission. These engineers collaborate with other technical teams to enhance user experience and support the rollout of new network features.

How does a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer typically collaborate with network operations and planning teams?

As a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer, you’ll regularly collaborate with network operations and planning teams to ensure optimal radio access network (RAN) performance. Your role often involves analyzing network KPIs, sharing insights on coverage or capacity issues, and coordinating technical solutions like parameter tuning or hardware upgrades. Effective communication and cross-functional teamwork are essential, as you'll work together to identify bottlenecks, implement enhancements, and monitor post-optimization results. This collaborative approach helps deliver a high-quality mobile experience for end users.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer, you need a solid background in telecommunications, RF engineering, and cellular network concepts, often supported by a degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Familiarity with network optimization tools (such as TEMS, Atoll, or Actix), drive test software, and relevant industry certifications (like CCNA or 5G certifications) is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring optimal network performance, efficient troubleshooting, and collaboration across technical teams.

What is the difference between Permanent Ran Optimization Engineer vs Radio Network Optimization Engineer?

Job description

Job Title: Hardware Electronics Engineer IJob Description

The Hardware Electronics Engineer I designs and develops motor control power electronics across the full product development lifecycle. In this role, you work closely with cross-functional teams, customers, suppliers, and manufacturers to translate designs into reliable, manufacturable products. You provide technical guidance that supports project schedules and product cost targets, and you use appropriate engineering tools and methods for design conception, analysis, testing, and verification.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop motor control power electronics from concept through manufacturing, with a focus on power conversion, power supplies, and motor drives.
  • Create and refine analog and digital circuits for power electronics applications, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Use PSPICE or similar circuit simulation tools to model, analyze, and optimize electronic designs.
  • Perform PCB schematic capture and collaborate on PCB layout to meet electrical, thermal, and mechanical requirements.
  • Apply PCB design skills to develop boards for power electronics, without a focus on high-complexity digital or military/aerospace PCB designs.
  • Design and analyze Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) topologies and Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuits to meet efficiency and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct testing and verification of hardware designs, interpreting results and implementing design improvements as needed.
  • Work within a product development environment, supporting projects from initial concept through to production release.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, mechanical, and application engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Provide technical input to support project schedules and product cost objectives, helping to ensure overall project success.
  • Engage with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to address technical issues and support the transition of designs into production.
Essential Skills
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in analog and digital circuit design and power electronics.
  • Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with analog hardware design for electronics, with emphasis on power supplies and motor controls.
  • Practical knowledge of power electronics, including power conversion, power supplies, and motor drives.
  • Experience with PSPICE or equivalent circuit simulation software for analysis and optimization of electronic designs.
  • Experience with PCB schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
  • PCB design skills suitable for power electronics applications, without requiring advanced high-complexity digital board expertise.
  • Familiarity with Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) design principles.
  • Familiarity with Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit design.
  • Understanding of AC/DC power conversion and motor control concepts.
  • Experience or exposure to project engineering in a product development environment, taking designs from concept to manufacturing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment with hardware, software, mechanical, and application teams.
  • Comfort working on power electronics rather than low-voltage digital logic or software-focused engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to circuit design, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to creating robust, manufacturable designs.
  • Good communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
  • Organizational skills to support multiple tasks while maintaining project schedules and cost targets.
Work Environment

This role is based in an office environment with a hybrid onsite schedule, requiring three days per week in the office (core days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), with a preference for four days onsite. You join a team of around 20 engineers across hardware and software disciplines and collaborate regularly with mechanical, software, and application engineering teams. The work centers on power electronics and hardware development, using tools such as PSPICE circuit simulation and PCB schematic capture and layout software in a product development setting that takes designs from concept through manufacturing.
