Industry UsageCommonly employed in telecom industry for permanent network optimization rolesUsed interchangeably in telecom for network performance improvement roles

The Permanent Ran Optimization Engineer and Radio Network Optimization Engineer roles are highly similar, often overlapping in credentials, work environment, and industry usage. The main difference lies in terminology preference, with both focusing on optimizing radio access networks to improve coverage and performance. Both roles are essential in telecom network management and require comparable skills and certifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer, you need a solid background in telecommunications, RF engineering, and cellular network concepts, often supported by a degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Familiarity with network optimization tools (such as TEMS, Atoll, or Actix), drive test software, and relevant industry certifications (like CCNA or 5G certifications) is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring optimal network performance, efficient troubleshooting, and collaboration across technical teams.

What is a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer?

A Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer is a telecommunications professional responsible for analyzing and improving the performance of Radio Access Networks (RAN) on a long-term, full-time basis. Their main duties include monitoring network performance, identifying issues, and implementing solutions to optimize signal quality, capacity, and coverage. They work with technologies such as 4G LTE and 5G, using specialized tools to ensure efficient data and voice transmission. These engineers collaborate with other technical teams to enhance user experience and support the rollout of new network features.

How does a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer typically collaborate with network operations and planning teams?

As a Permanent RAN Optimization Engineer, you’ll regularly collaborate with network operations and planning teams to ensure optimal radio access network (RAN) performance. Your role often involves analyzing network KPIs, sharing insights on coverage or capacity issues, and coordinating technical solutions like parameter tuning or hardware upgrades. Effective communication and cross-functional teamwork are essential, as you'll work together to identify bottlenecks, implement enhancements, and monitor post-optimization results. This collaborative approach helps deliver a high-quality mobile experience for end users.

Job description

Cloud Data Engineer Location:  Fayetteville, AR
Onsite: Yes
Schedule:  M-F, 8-5 (flexible)
Type:  Direct Hire, Permanent
Salary:  $130,000 - $165,000Overview

Our organization spans several industries—including automotive retail, heavy equipment, beverage distribution, and aviation—and has been privately operated for decades. As we continue expanding through acquisitions, we are modernizing our data ecosystem on Google Cloud to support enterprise-wide analytics, operational insights, and emerging AI workloads.

We are hiring a Cloud Data Engineer to help establish a new data architecture from the ground up. This is a net-new engineering role focused on designing and delivering a contemporary data platform rather than supporting legacy systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesPlatform Architecture & Development
  • Architect and deploy a multi-layered data environment (bronze/silver/gold) in BigQuery, including ingestion, transformation, and semantic modeling.
  • Configure Dataplex to serve as the central framework for cataloging, lineage tracking, governance, and data quality across business domains.
  • Build ingestion pipelines—batch and real-time—from diverse sources such as dealer management systems, ERP tools, IoT and telematics feeds, SaaS providers, and on-prem databases using technologies like Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Datastream, Cloud Composer, and Cloud Run.
  • Develop modular SQL and transformation workflows using dbt or Dataform with robust testing, documentation, and version control practices.
Operations, Reliability & Security
  • Use infrastructure-as-code to provision cloud assets and implement CI/CD automation for both data workflows and platform components.
  • Create and maintain clear environment boundaries (Dev / Test / Prod) while ensuring consistent deployment patterns.
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and cost-optimization practices to manage BigQuery compute allocation, storage optimization, and pipeline performance.
  • Apply security best practices including IAM policy design, VPC Service Controls, customer-managed encryption keys, and fine-grained access controls.
  • Contribute to data protection initiatives such as DLP, masking frameworks, and classification schemes to support analytical and AI-driven workloads.
Business Enablement & Data Products
  • Collaborate with leaders across multiple verticals to interpret business requirements and translate them into reliable, scalable data assets.
  • Deliver curated data models and subject-area marts optimized for BI platforms like Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Prepare the platform for advanced AI/ML scenarios—feature engineering pipelines, vector stores, Vertex AI integrations, and RAG-oriented architectures.
  • Produce technical documentation including architectural diagrams, data contracts, and operational runbooks.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, cloud engineering, or platform-focused development (additional requirements can be added as needed).
