Structural and Payload Design Engineer (Mid Level)

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Long Beach Engineering team - is seeking a Structural and Payload Design Engineer (Mid Level) to support Payloads Engineering in Long Beach, CA.

Knowledge of Boeing Seat Integration Team (SIT) processes, program plans, policies and procedures, and products required to effectively perform functional responsibilities of the occupation.

The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at the Boeing Southern California Design Center, located in Long Beach, CA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads Initial technical coordination (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and First Article Inspection (FAI) major milestone meeting

  • Leads in development of engineering releases to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle

  • Leads in review and approval of supplier technical data and documents for compliance with FAA and other regulatory bodies

  • Verifies supplier design meets customer and Boeing specifications

  • Coordinates with certification specialists to ensure proper certification and test documentation prior to aircraft delivery

  • Leads process improvement activities with our team in an effort to streamline the seats installations, certification and rework processes

  • Collects, organizes, synthesizes, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources

  • Coordinates and teams with other internal and external Engineering teams, external suppliers and supplier management

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of Boeing engineering release requirements

  • Knowledge of aircraft interiors and layouts

  • Excellent communication and project management skills
