Job Description

Responsible for thermo-mechanical design of combustion systems using NX, ANSYS and Honeywell internal lifing methods
ย Responsible for developing innovative combustor cooling schemes to develop full-life combustors
ย Responsible for proposing new material choices in support of full-life combustors
ย Perform stress, lifing, and hot-to-cold deflection analyses
ย Develop innovative combustor designs that is resilient to high thermal loads
ย Contribute to the development of combustion design methodology and multi-dimensionalย aerodynamic, heat transfer, stress, for both steady state and transient analysisย 
ย Conduct successful combustion rig tests in support of combustor design validations
ย Able to take ownership of combustor design and establish strong working relationship withย combustion-aerodynamicists, design , manufacturing, and project groupsย 
ย Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers

Qualifications

M.S/Ph.D. in Mechanical/Aerospace/Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
Prior experience in mechanical design of systems subject to high thermal loads
Expertise in NX and ANSYS
Familiar with standard combustor manufacturing approaches
Familiar with combustor cooling schemes and combustor materials
U. S. citizenship or permanent residency required
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong data-driven decision making skills
Additional Qualifications:
Experience in the design of combustion systems
Expert in combustor stress and lifing analyses
Familiar with combustion aerodynamics
Experience in CFD analysis
Strong hot-section manufacturing background
Evidence of strong communication skills, both written and oral, including presentation of technical papers in conferences
