Lines of Responsibility: RN -- Charge Nurse--Clinical Manager--Administrator

Position Overview: Under the supervision of a registered nurse, safely performs duties of a medical assistant to include but not limited to, assisting in the perioperative care and transport of patients throughout the facility. Establishes rapport with patients and their support persons. Transports equipment, supplies, and other items in a safe manner. Serves as support personnel following regulations including assisting with patient admissions, patient procedures, care and maintenance of procedural instrumentation, discharging patients, chart preparation, medical records, medication administration, assisting providers and other personnel as needed, and other collateral duties. Performs other duties as appropriate and as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  2. Follow established protocols for safe patient handling (eg, safely moving, transferring, and transporting patients).
  3. Follow established protocols for transporting equipment, supplies, and other items
  4. Follow established protocols for maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors.
  5. Follow established protocols for connecting patient monitors, taking vital signs, admitting and discharging patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse.
  6. Assist with CLIA waived testing under the direction of a registered nurse.
  7. Discontinue intravenous therapy and apply dressing under the direction of a registered nurse.
  8. Follow established protocols for using communication devices (eg, computers, cell phones).
  9. Operate, transport, and transfer equipment safely and according to the manufacturer's instructions for use.
  10. Safely move, transfer, and transport patients onto transport vehicles and to and from private car (eg, wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds, OR beds).
  11. Adhere to infection prevention practices (ie, standard, contact, droplet, and airborne precautions), including the use of personal protective equipment.
  12. Clean designated areas and equipment and follow safety procedures and manufacturer's instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies, and equipment.
  13. Follow established protocols for safe disposal of linens, trash, and supplies.
  14. Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting perioperative services as assigned.
  15. Assist with cleaning of the perioperative areas.
  16. Distribute medical and surgical supplies to other areas within the facility as needed.
  17. Adhere to standard precautions including the use of appropriate hand hygiene, appropriate personal protective equipment and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
  18. Follow safety procedures and manufacturer's instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.
  19. Operate equipment used in the perioperative areas safely and according to the manufacturer's instructions for use.
  20. Assist with improving the quality of perioperative services.
  21. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of the company, individuals, and health information.
  22. Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
  23. Exhibit high integrity, good judgement, professionalism, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  24. Exhibit behaviors that align with and contribute to a positive organizational culture.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum age of 16 years old

Preferred:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
