Job description

SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the position is to ensure the highest quality of resident care available and establish a positive reputation in the community while delivering on the Eduro HealthCare Values of wellness, compassion, customer experience and company results. This position is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Adherence to Policies
Must show courtesy and respect to other employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, the general public, etc.
Abide by Eduro HealthCares drug and alcohol policy.
Maintain good personal hygiene and dress and groom appropriately.
Report on time as scheduled and follow all company policies and procedures.
Attend staff meetings and in-service sessions.
Become thoroughly familiar with emergency procedures.
Must be able to perform duties in a timely fashion, and within the prescribed sequences and schedules.
Must be cooperative with other departments and be courteous and respectful in dealing with them at all times.
Participate in and respond professionally to surveys (inspections) conducted by government agencies.
CLEANING DUTIES include
All cleaning must be done according to sanitation procedures, safety precautions, infection control, and universal precautions.
o It is the responsibility of the housekeeping staff to clean the following areas: patient rooms, hallways, offices, family room, nurses stations, patios, main lobby, treatment rooms, laundry room and storage, employee break areas rooms, physical therapy room, activity room, library, study, shower/hydrotherapy rooms, kitchen, boiler rooms, telephone areas, stairs, elevators, entrances, utility rooms, oxygen rooms, etc.
Cleaning responsibilities include the following:
o Sweep, mop, wax, polish floors or vacuum and shampoo, deodorize carpets, and assure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties.
o Clean nightstands, tables, counter tops, room heating/cooling units, etc.
o Dust televisions, beds, window sills, furniture, etc.
o Clean windows, window coverings, cubicle curtains, etc.
o Clean walls, tile surfaces, ceilings, baseboards, etc.
o Empty garbage throughout facility.
o Clean toilets, ensuring all enamel (inside and out) is thoroughly wiped. Clean sinks, mirrors, floor, walls, etc.
o Refill dispensers (soap, paper towel, toilet paper, etc.)
o Clean appliances and equipment, as needed, including fireplace (when applicable), pillars, lockers, telephones, copy machines, etc.
o Clean and arrange shelves in rooms, storage areas, etc.
o Dust and polish furniture, lamps, knickknacks, art work, etc.
o Clean mirrors, doors, windows, etc.
o Clean ashtrays, supply carts, etc.
o Sweep porch and clean patio furniture.
o Wash tables and chairs.
o Clean smoke alarms.
o Clean offices Monday through Friday (when applicable).
o High dusting, including vents
o Vacuum around the edges and under furniture.
o Spot clean carpet as necessary
o Clean and sanitize bathroom cabinets.
Perform terminal cleaning procedures.
Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to your supervisor.
Report all accidents immediately.
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of all areas. Must perform regular inspections of resident rooms for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.

Patient Care
Be personally involved with all aspects of resident care to the extent necessary to assess its quality.
Respect all resident rights, including the confidentiality of resident care information.
Report immediately to the proper legal authorities if you have reason to believe a resident has been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused, or been a victim of theft of their personal property.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, cheerfulness, enthusiasm, and love, giving the resident the quality of service you would want to receive personally. Reflect the four core values of Eduro HealthCare.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Education and Experience
Sufficient knowledge and experience in long-term care
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform required duties.
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
Bi-lingual skills welcome

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Completion of orientation required by company policy.
Health screening and TB test (if required) within two weeks of employment.
Mandatory drug test upon hire.
Must be free of criminal activity proven by a criminal background check.
Become familiar with and comply to all local, state, and federal regulations relating to the job.
Show within three (3) days of hire satisfactory evidence of identity and eligibility for employment.
Be efficient with computer skills and typing, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and email.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Frequently moves housekeeping equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across facility.
Must be able to rapidly assist in the evacuation of all residents from the building in case of emergency.

Equipment
Must be able to use and operate the following equipment: wet & dry vacs, carpet extractors, side by side scrubbing machines, stripper, buffer, vacuum cleaner, brooms, mops, dust mop, feather duster, window squeegee, toilet cleaner chemicals and brush, wax applicator, cleaning carts, telephone, maintenance tools and equipment, wheelchairs, and walkers.

Work Environment
May be asked to work beyond normal working hours and must have flexibility and willingness to work holidays, etc.
Must work in an office and other areas of the facility as needed.
May work in a wet or humid environment
May be exposed to illness, diseases, and other health conditions present in the facility.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
