Job description

The Shop Supervisor will manage day to day operations of a Class 8 maintenance shop. The role is responsible for working with all shop team members on their development within the shop and ensure all shop policies and procedures are being followed.
Responsibilities
  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel
  • Perform team member evaluations based on company schedule
  • Manage and develop shop team members
  • Ensure shop policies and procedures are being followed
  • Ensure best practices are being followed by shop team members for repairs
  • Open and close repair orders as needed
  • ⁠Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures
  • Assign work to shop team members
  • Order inventory for shop based on guidelines
  • Receive and stock inventory for small parts room
  • Perform repairs on class 8 equipment
  • Inspect, test, and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools or gauges to verify conformance to standards or repair requirements
