The salary range for this position is$60,000 - $80,000 which will bedeterminedbased on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Test Technician to join our Production Testing team in Welland Ontario Canada, reporting to the Lead Production Test Engineer. In this role, you will lead the operation and troubleshooting of highly complex engine and generator test bench systems, including data acquisition, engine controls and tuning, cooling, and PLC systems. You will play a key part in ensuring product performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain advanced test bench systems for Waukesha engines and gensets.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with engines, generators, and supporting facility systems.
  • Perform engine and generator testing, analyze performance data, and report results.
  • Work with data acquisition, control systems (PLCs), cooling, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead root cause investigations for test failures and collaborate on solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to optimize testing processes.
  • Support business goals and objectives as it relates to on time delivery and engine completion KPI's
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new testing technologies and procedures.
  • Mentor rig & derig associates
  • Conduct post-test quality inspections to ensure product meets required standards
  • Support engine rig and de-rigging when required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Support customer factory witness testing.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Automation Engineering/Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Solid understanding of reciprocating engine and generator performance dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with test bench operation, data acquisition, PLCs, and facility support systems (cooling, fuel, electrical supply).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience performing quality inspections and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Able to work on multiple shifts and weekends as required.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Waukesha engines or similar power generation equipment.
  • Background in industrial test environments or power generation facilities.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
  • Familiar with Waukesha product line.
