Performance Driver information

What are performance drivers?

Performance drivers, also known as professional race car drivers or stunt drivers, are individuals who operate vehicles at high speeds or in demanding conditions for competitive racing, testing, or entertainment purposes. Their main role is to push vehicles to their limits, often in motorsport events, automotive testing, or for film and television productions. They require advanced driving skills, quick reflexes, and a deep understanding of vehicle mechanics and dynamics. Performance drivers often work with teams to optimize vehicle performance and ensure safety during high-speed maneuvers.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

Performance drivers, such as professional race car drivers or high-level delivery drivers, can earn $10,000 or more per month through sponsorships, bonuses, and high-volume work. These roles often require specialized skills, experience, and sometimes certifications, but typically do not require a college degree.

What jobs pay $2000 a day?

Performance drivers, especially those working in high-stakes environments such as professional racing or specialized transportation, can earn around $2,000 per day through contracts, bonuses, or high hourly rates. These roles often require advanced driving skills, certifications, and experience, and may involve working long hours or in competitive settings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Performance Driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Performance Driver, you need advanced driving skills, in-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics, and often a valid professional racing or high-performance driving license. Familiarity with telemetry systems, data analysis tools, and industry-standard safety equipment is crucial. Exceptional focus, quick decision-making, and strong communication skills help drivers adapt to rapidly changing conditions and work effectively with teams. These abilities are essential for achieving peak vehicle performance, ensuring safety, and succeeding in competitive or testing environments.

What are some common challenges faced by Performance Drivers, and how can they be overcome?

Performance Drivers often face challenges such as adapting to different vehicles, managing high-pressure situations during competitions or testing, and maintaining peak physical and mental condition. To overcome these challenges, drivers typically undergo rigorous training to familiarize themselves with various car dynamics, work closely with technical teams to fine-tune vehicle performance, and follow strict fitness and nutrition regimens. Effective communication with engineers and consistent practice are key to success in this dynamic and demanding role.

Our teams work collaboratively across operations, technology, risk, finance, marketing, and sales to deliver solutions that create measurable value and support the continued growth of APCO and the partners we serve.
We are looking for a Dealer Performance Manager to support and grow a portfolio of dealership partners. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to your accounts using a consultative approach to strengthen relationships, optimize performance, and drive long-term retention and revenue growth.
What You'll Do
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing dealership partners within your assigned territory

  • Travel regularly within your region to meet with dealership partners

What Makes You Successful
You'll be successful in this role if you are a relationship-driven sales professional who takes a strategic, consultative approach to account management. You're able to understand the full picture of a dealership's business, identify opportunities for growth, and align solutions that deliver measurable results.
You're also analytical and proactive, using data and insights to guide conversations and influence decisions. You build trust quickly, communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, and are confident navigating complex conversations around performance, strategy, and contract terms.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of automotive industry outside sales experience
  • Proven experience in consultative, relationship-based sales or account management
  • Strong understanding of dealership operations and F&I products
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel extensively (up to 75%)
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in F&I management, dealership leadership, or performance consulting
  • Knowledge of reinsurance, retro programs, and back-end dealership operations
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience analyzing business performance data and developing strategic plans

This Role Might Be a Great Fit If You...
  • Enjoy building long-term relationships and becoming a trusted partner to your clients
  • Like using data and insights to identify opportunities and drive performance
  • Thrive in a consultative sales environment focused on retention and growth
  • Are motivated by helping partners succeed while achieving your own performance goals

What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Company-provided tools and resources to support your success
  • Opportunities for career growth within a leading automotive F&I organization
