Job description

Position Summary:Southern Boone High School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Instrumental Music Assistant to support a growing and dynamic instrumental music program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teaching ability, a passion for student development, and a commitment to excellence in both performance and classroom instruction.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Bands in planning, organizing, and implementing all aspects of the band program
  • Co-teach and/or independently direct concert bands, marching band, and other ensembles as assigned
  • Support marching band operations, including rehearsals, performances, drill instruction, and event logistics
  • Provide sectional and small group instruction to enhance individual and ensemble performance
  • Assist with curriculum development, music selection, and student assessment aligned with Missouri Learning Standards
  • Help coordinate concerts, competitions, festivals, and travel
  • Support recruitment and retention efforts through collaboration with feeder middle school programs
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, administration, and band booster organizations
  • Assist with inventory management, uniforms, equipment, and music library organization
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Bands or school administration

Qualifications:
