Job Role Summary
The Business Practice and Data Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Physician and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) compensation, operational efficiency, and the physician and APP wellbeing program initiatives at Eskenazi Medical Group. This position delivers high-quality data acquisition, advanced reporting, in-depth analysis, and actionable insights to inform both short-term operational decisions and long-term strategic planning.
The Analyst works closely with the Director of Compensation - Physicians and APPs and the Director of Strategic Business Partnerships and Wellbeing, engaging across all levels of management and directly with physicians and APPs. Serving as the central point of accountability, communication, and coordination, the Analyst drives consistency in the setup, execution, and oversight of projects of varying scale, ensuring successful outcomes for compensation, wellbeing, and related operational initiatives that directly impact physician and APP satisfaction and organizational performance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Physician and APP Compensation
  • Supports the development and execution of physician and APP compensation plans that align incentives with organizational goals.
  • Prepares and contributes to compensation modeling using both financial and operational data, including an understanding of all plan elements and the data required to accurately administer them.
  • Reviews and approves reports generated throughout the year, including monthly dashboards and quarterly incentive payout summaries, in collaboration with the Analytics team.
  • Participates in the physician and APP staffing request process to evaluate financial impact.
  • Leads the annual compensation plan review process, including analysis of national benchmarks, to ensure continuing market competitiveness.
  • Completes fair market value assessments at both individual and group levels.

Physician and APP Wellbeing
  • Gathers and analyzes data from surveys, electronic health records, and administrative databases to identify trends and opportunities related to physician and APP burnout, satisfaction, turnover, and wellbeing.
  • Leverages multiple data sources and wellbeing tools, including the AMA Joy in Medicine program, AMA Organizational Biopsy, Well-Being Index, Epic Signal data, and employee engagement surveys.
  • Creates and maintains dashboards, reports, summaries, and presentations that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for leadership.
  • Maintains a catalogue system for wellbeing publications, resources, and reference materials.
  • Manages and implements survey tools such as the AMA Organizational Biopsy and the Well-Being Index.

Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Partners with stakeholders to understand requirements, deliver tailored insights, and develop supporting tools and documentation that enable departments to effectively monitor and utilize their data.
  • Extracts, prepares, and integrates data from internal and external sources to enable accurate evaluation of physician and APP compensation, operational performance, and wellbeing metrics.
  • Conducts thorough analysis using statistical techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and key insights; interprets results to guide equitable and competitive compensation strategies, wellbeing initiatives, operational enhancements, and long-term planning.
  • Creates user-friendly reports, compelling visualizations, dashboards, and presentations that transform complex data into clear, actionable information for stakeholders at all levels.

Data Quality, Integrity, and Standardization
  • Maintains data quality and integrity across all reporting and analytical functions.
  • Develops and participates in standardized processes to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely reporting for stakeholders.
  • Ensures EMG remains aligned with Eskenazi Health standards, definitions, and processes for data extraction, aggregation, and analysis.

Project Management
  • Leads departmental projects of varying scale, ensuring consistent setup, execution, and completion while meeting stakeholder requirements and delivering key milestones on time.
  • Drives accountability by coordinating activities, tracking progress, and proactively addressing issues to maintain timelines and data accuracy.
  • Serves as the central point of communication and coordination, collaborating with management, physicians, and directors to align deliverables with operational and compensation-related objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to identify key trends, relationships, and variances across data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to clinical and non-clinical audiences with varied backgrounds.
  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to summarize large volumes of data graphically for executive audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Desire or experience in identifying and working with data reporting tools and platforms such as Power BI and AI.
  • Effective time management to meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to make sound decisions, and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team building positive relationships across the health system.

Minimum Qualifications, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Health Informatics, Statistics, Data Science, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of advanced data analysis and reporting techniques.
  • Experience in physician and APP compensation plan development and execution (preferred).
  • Experience in the healthcare industry and associated reporting domains, including quality metrics, operational performance, regulatory requirements, and revenue cycle services (preferred).

Working Environment
  • Administrative office environment with a hybrid schedule.
